☁ best quidditch team other than your own, and why?

merlin, so much talk about quidditch. stephen wasn’t upset by it - after all, his life did just about revolve around the sport. he let out a laugh as tracey positioned the question to him. feigning concentration, stephen rested his chin in his hand, tapping on cheek as if he was in deep thought.

“i mean, it’s no contest that slytherin has the other best captain,” he replied with a grin. “and i’m only a little bit biased when i say that.” not that it was a much of a contest - versus someone who’d been given the role of captain by default three weeks ago, and - well, morag. 

with a sigh, stephen wrinkled his nose as he continued to think. “i don’t know - certain parts of certain teams are better than the other - i’m pretty sure that a flobberworm would be a better seeker than the one slytherin has...” he didn’t have a concrete answer - more because he didn’t want to stroke anyone else’s ego. “if any of the other teams beat us, then i guess i’d think about saying they might be good.”

for the longest time, every time noah looked towards tracey, he felt ill. guilt coiled in his stomach and the urge to apologize bubbled up in his throat. but they moved past that. and now, tonight, he looks at her and grins from his seat across from her. they won the game a few days prior — an emphasis on they, he would fiercely denounce the rest of his team to anyone who hinted that anyone besides him or tracey played well — and now they’re just able to have fun and enjoy themselves. that’s what they’re meant to do tonight. the party’s wound down by this point, he thinks, most people having left to go sleep in their own beds or finding a place to crash and call their own for the evening. 

“ tracey, could i tell you something ? ” 

he’s still smiling, though his heart is thudding loudly and he can feel the blood rushing through his ears. he shouldn’t be saying this aloud, he thinks, at least, a small rational part of him unaffected by the alcohol thinks. and so instead of blurting it out, he pauses. his eyes scan the room, and he makes a shh gesture with his hand before moving to sit on the arm of her chair. he’ll hint at it. tracey’s smart, he’s sure of it. she’ll figure it out. he leans in, his mouth close to her ear as he whispers. “ i did something, trace, and it’s either the best or most stupid choice i’ve ever made. ” coming from him, that’s saying something, and he laughs. for a second, he feels buoyant. “ or maybe it could be both, i don’t know. but at least, i’m doing something and not just twiddling my thumbs while the world goes to shit, you know ? ” he fixes his gaze on her. his voice grows softer, sad, and he wraps his arms around himself. “ i’m the only slytherin. ”

With the end of the night not yet upon them, Pansy was rapidly ahead of the curve, stumbling around and stealing every unguarded bottle of...look it didn’t matter what was in there, so long as it was alcoholic...she could find. Spotting Tracey across the room, Pansy felt a silent siren song tug her over, a toxic mixture of guilt, appreciation, sorrow and anger precariously close to spilling over. “Trace - “ She hissed, barely audible above the music. “Trace.” That did the trick. Swinging the bottles of something (the words were too blurry to make out), Pansy pushed one into her grip. “Don’t say I never did anything for ya.” As if one bottle of stolen booze would make up for months of betrayal. Smile flickering and then diminished all together, Pansy stared at Tracey, as if for the first time. “I’m a really shit person. You shouldn’t bother with me. I shouldn’t bother with you. It would be so much easier if I hated you. But I know you’ll hate me. One day. Maybe soon. So - I guess that’s good enough for both of us, huh?”

écarlate: is it easy to make you blush?

"Ah, I don’t really think so. I don’t run into many situations where I blush.” She thought about the pink in her cheeks when she squished herself between Mandy and Morag during Mandy’s many sleepovers. The light dusting of blush before and after her first kiss. The warmth in her face as Herbology club took their commemorative end of the year photo. “I only really blush around my friends.”

ange: what’s your opinion on religion? do you believe in anything?

Sue paused. She didn’t grow up religious (most wizarding families didn’t), but she had had many musings to herself about things beyond what was real and tangible. After all, if magic were real, why not a higher power? “I don’t think I have enough information to have an opinion. I like to believe in something bigger though. A reasoning behind everything.”

piscine: do you like swimming?

She thought about summers spent by the lake, her cousins taking turns sitting on each other’s shoulders, trying to push the other pair into the water. She had learned to swim slowly, a hesitation around diving in that put a pause to her swimming until she turned nine. Swimming made her think of hot summer sun and a breath of fresh air from the mansion. We all sound the same under water, she thought, and the world runs so much slower when all you can hear is yourself and the water. “Yes, I like swimming.”
