What curse was she struck with? And why? I know that she got her ink-like patterns because of it, but why are they in that form specifically?

I'm still figuring out the details of the curse, but the ink patterns are like a mark of the curse. It involved written magic so it's ink. It stripped away her natural markings and thus replaced it with the moving ink patterns in her older form. the marks can also briefly peel off her body to use abilities and such but otherwise they are bound to her forever
