Trecce - Temporary Score: 8
Description: a single S-shaped strand of pasta, twisted into a loose spiral. (aka, Gemelli)
First Take Points: 4 - i made "the last of" with my trecce, which is a dish i create every autumn (if "every" means the last three years) to use the last of my garden produce. it's not the last of ALL produce, just the last of what is coming out of my personal garden and from the local farm stand, in this case: purple long beans, grape/cherry tomatoes, broccolini, and zuke. i had.... LOTS of grape and cherry tomatoes late in the season, and so there were LOTS of tomatoes in this dish. not that i'm complaining. because do you know what the base of my beloved red sauce is??? it sure ain't beets!
Remix Bonus Points: 2 - this could easily be a day-to-day, goes in anything pasta. it's a short-to-medium cut, with plenty of sauce-holding-ness.
Amusement Points: 2 - i think my senses have been dulled by the outlandish variety in pasta shapes. i feel like this shape should be much more amusing to me, but instead of "WOW" i just get a "this is a very pasta shape shape of pasta" feel instead. you know what i mean? no? i'm not making any sense? you think i might have pasta poisoning? you want me to put down the slotted spoon and slowly back away from the boiling salted water? buckle in babes, we still have 8 weeks go.
Annoyance Deductions: 0 - i feel bad about deducting points just because i have become numb to whimsy and wonder. you're safe, trecce, you're safe. (not from being eaten, but from being unfairly maligned, certainly)
Alternative Uses: clearly, this is a twisty waterslide for bugs. change my mind.
