For some reason I can't get tumblr to open your submission box, so it's going here instead--I went to Aotearoa New Zealand and saw a tree weta! I was so excited to see one, I was really hoping I would. This one has its back legs up in a defensive posture because one of my classmates startled it. They're such a neat example of island gigantism! I also saw a red admiral butterfly, but those pics are on my dslr so I'll have to upload them later.

Great find! And what scary legs she has! If I were a predator I'd flee so quickly. I don't think I've posted many weta in the past, maybe I'll find a nice one to share soon.

Redo of what I meant to post

Instead of drawing have some new Zealand birbs and critters + lizor

Tree weta. Normally during my job I find cave wetas instead but its nice to see these guys every now and again. They are safe in what we call weta hotels

Black robin. My favourite bird and this one got close to me!!!! There are many types of them and Their little chirps too. I often see them while I'm doing my job. By far my favourite story on them is of the southern island black robin which once were down to 5 left but thanks to one nicknamed "blue" helped their species come back from the brink

Tuatara. I like these lizors :> this one is young by their size and can live up to 100 years old (might be wrong).

Kawakawa looper caterpillar. These guys feed off of Kawakawa leafs and are also how you can tell when Kawakawa tree leafs are ready to be turned into tea. Sometimes when they hang from the trees they might look like a bit of leaf hanging from a spider web
