Making a Tres Leches Cake for the very first time from scratch tonight and jfc is this nerve wracking. I consider myself a pretty decent home baker, but this cake has me questioning everything.

Pull it out of the oven and its flat as fuck. I'm like shit, maybe the butter wasn't cool enough or maybe I over worked the batter when I was adding the flour. Oh well, gonna let it cool and keep going to see what happens.

The cake is now cool and I poke some holes in it with a fork and then I start on the milk mixture. Once that's done, I start pouring it over the cake in the pan and I'm all, hmmm is it gonna soak up all this milk? It doesn't look like it.

So I poke some more holes as the first bit of milk is soaking in and it sucks that shit up so I add the rest. Well now the cake is nice and poofy and not flat. I think it looks ok, but I dunno. I'm keeping it in the fridge over night and then I'm gonna make the frosting tomorrow.

I got the recipe from a friend's mom and it has been their family recipe for several generations so I'm worried my white ass is butchering this thing.
