Happy Valentine's Day eve! Can I request Pete/Trevor and box of chocolates, please and thank you? :)

Trevor knows that Pete’s never exactly had the opportunity to be treated right for Valentine’s Day.  Largely because Carol clearly didn’t care about him, and she’s the only person that he’s been with until now.

Obviously, the whole being a ghost puts a bit of a damper on Trevor’s ability to treat Pete right for the holiday, but there were a few things he could do, and he knows that Jay would do anything for his man, Pete. 

So, he plans.

Pete lets Trevor lead him by the hand outside to the gazebo.  He’s not quite sure to expect after Trevor says that he has a surprise for him, especially since most of the other ghosts are at Jay’s restaurant since it’s busy for Valentine’s Day.

“I know that you haven’t exactly had the best Valentine’s Day dates in life, but I’m hoping that despite the limitations, I could give you the best Valentine’s Date in your afterlife,” Trevor offers, gesturing at his favorite meal spread out over a tiny table for two with a rose in a vase, a candle and an open box of chocolates.

“How did you –”

“Jay said he’d do anything for his man Pete, so… it was surprisingly easy,” Trevor offers as if Pete knows that there was probably some sort of negotiation going on.  “I know we can’t actually eat any of it, but we can smell it…”

Pete smiles, honestly touched by Trevor’s efforts, and gives him a kiss.  “This is brilliant.  Thank you, Trev.”

“Always happy to make my boyfriend happy.”

“Me too.”

“Good.”

Have I have mentioned how much I suck at Sad Endings? (I briefly considered having Pete get sucked off, BUT I couldn't - so this is what we got). HOPE YOU LIKE IT :)

Trevor’s always been happy for Pete getting to live that adventure life that he missed out on in life with the way his power works, but this is the first time that Pete’s adventures have extended passed a few days (he’s been working on growing his power so that he could visit his daughter in Australia) and the first time since they started dating.

Trevor knows he’ll be back, but not for a couple of weeks. 

He’s happy for him, but he can’t help pouting a bit. 

They’ve been spending every moment together since he made the choice to go, and Pete’s been assuring him that it’s not like he’s going to go pick up another guy, he’s just visiting family.

“I know you’re not, I just wish I could go with you,” Trevor says, still pouting even as Pete kisses his cheek.

“I know, but it’s Laura’s birthday in a couple of days and I want to be there, even if she doesn’t know,” Pete states.  “I missed so much, you know?”

“I know and it’s not fair for me to be pouting when I know you’re probably coming back –”

“Probably?” Pete questions.  “Trevor, I am definitely going to come home to you and not just because I have to for my power, I want to.”

“I know you want to, hell, I’m pretty sure you’re the only ghost who does, but what if something happens?  There are things that could cause you to not come back.”

Like finally getting to ascend.

“Like what?”

“The obvious!” Trevor counters.  Pete gives him a look, and Trevor relents.  “You could get sucked off while you’re away and I would never know!”

“Trevor, I’m not getting sucked off without you,” Pete counters, and it’s the emphasis on the term that tells him that Pete’s trying to get him to laugh, to think of the reason he likes that the ghosts use that term for ascending, but it doesn’t work.

“You don’t know that,” Trevor states.  “You never know when it’s going to happen.”

Pete runs a hand through his hair and grabs his chin.  “I’m not going anywhere.  I’m not done with you, yet.  So, no getting sucked off unless you’re involved, and I promise I’m coming home to you.”

He says it with sure assertion that Trevor might actually believe him.

Before he could argue further, Sam yells up the stairs that Pete’s gotta leave for his flight or he’ll miss it.

Pete, instead, pulls him close and kisses him like one of those airport-don’t-you-forget-me kisses in the rom coms that Trevor loves so much. 

For a second, he could almost forget that Pete’s about to leave him until the kiss ends.

“I’ll be back before you know it,” Pete offers.  “Love you.”

“Love you, too,” Trevor states because even if Pete gets sucked off in the non-Trevor-involved way, he wants him to know that he loves him. 

“Good, I’ll be home soon.”

“I’ll be waiting.”

“Good.”

Sure enough, two weeks later, Trevor’s waiting by the door when Pete comes home.  Happy to welcome him back home.
