Winners announced of annual art show

LAGRANGE — Winning entries in the 43rd Annual Art Fair of the Mu Chapter of Tri Kappa Sorority are now on display at Parkview LaGrange Hospital. Each year all elementary

Each year all elementary and middle school students in the Lakeland, Prairie Heights and Westview school systems are invited to submit work to be considered for the Art Fair. Paintings and drawings from the first, second and third place winners from each grade at each school are included in the exhibit. Parkview LaGrange Hospital will host a reception for the young artists and their family members on Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. until noon in the Terrace Café.

All proceeds from the sale will benefit local charities and organizations. Some of the recipients of the funds raised through the annual garage sale include Clothe the Children, transportation for the Fifth Street After School Program, scholarships (local chapter as well as state scholarships), Girls State, Jasper Community Arts Commission, Memorial Hospital Foundations, Riley Hospital Cheer Guild and Girls on the Run.

August 15, 2019 | In the summer of 1917, with a group of businessmen in his dining room, Chef Louis Perrin had an issue. Patrons wanted orange juice, but the chef was out of oranges. The chef improvised and mashing up tomatoes, strained the seeds, added some sugar and salt and poured it into a glass – Tomato juice, the drink, was born.

Tri Kappa is sponsoring a Tomato Salsa Tasting Contest from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. The sorority is also sponsoring photo opportunities with the tomato festival’s Chef Louie.
