「☠」—» Nico di Angelo was sick. Sweat slid down his face and coated his skull shirt to his body. His aviator jacket had long since been discarded, the fierce fire blazing under Nico’s skin forcing him to remove the familiar article. His whole body trembled, his mouth dryer than a desert, and an unhealthy flush had taken permanent residence on his cheeks. The demigod’s eyes had an unnatural brightness to them, though his gaze was distant and unfocused. It was a nameless disease, but one the son of Hades had dreaded for years. All his misery, the awful memories and experiences locked inside his body, had rushed to the surface. He was burning from the inside out from all these past pains... and he didn’t know how to stop it.
His first reaction had been to ignore it. The ache in his bones, the fevered touch on his skin, the slight tremble of his shoulders. The heavy feeling draping across his whole body, making it hard to even walk. Nico didn’t want to acknowledge it— the sickness of a thousand sorrows. He didn’t want to even think about it. But it had gotten worse and worse, days dragging on in the blur of illness until Nico found it hard to even get out of bed. And it was then that he became aware that this wasn’t going away... that he needed help.
And so here he was, leaning heavily against the wall of the apartment building’s hallway, vision blurred and feet clumsy in the thralls of his sickness. The demigod’s eyes were unfocused as he slowly stumbled down the length of the hallway, eyes sliding almost sightlessly across the numbers tacked to the doors. And then, finally. The one he was looking for. Heavy fingers curled into a loose ball as Nico struggled to lift his arm, pale knuckles rapping softly against the apartment’s door. He’d used most of his strength just getting here, so he had almost nothing left to actually alert the person he’d come to see of his arrival. He’d just have to hope that he had good ears.
The son of Hades didn’t know how much longer he could hold out.
