Mirror Triborg/TR Triborg Bio
Despite recognizing the reasons why Oniro had decided to, at the very least, delay the Cyber Initiative and highly respecting it, Doctor Rotwang also told the exiled former Grandmaster of the Lin Kuei that, since they would have more enemies to fight with the alliance of Kuai Liang’s Lin Kuei with the Edenian Regime, he would like to keep experimenting with the concepts and technology of the Cyber Initiative so they could be more prepared for future battles. Oniro understood and gave Rotwang permission.
Using data the Lin Kuei had acquired during the development of the Cyber Initiative and their technology, Rotwang was able to create a mechanical body which would be capable of using multiple abilities. In particular, it was equipped with the technology to copy the abilities of the first prominent Lin Kuei warriors which Rotwang had been able to recreate with the usage of technology: Cyrax, Sektor and Smoke. All it needed now was a holder. Since it was such a complicated machine, the Doctor thought the best option was to create said holder.
The Red Dragon and Lin Kuei resources gave Doctor Rotwang access to the most advanced technology which could be found in Earthrealm, enough to try some incredible experiments from time to time. In this case, he managed to create the most advanced AI known until today, which he put in control of the cybernetic body after programming it correctly. He decided to call it Triborg in reference to its capability to use the ability of three different warriors.
Triborg was programmed to be an efficient machine and fight alongside the Lin Kuei and the Red Dragon, which it did flawlessly. It also had a great capability to learn and adapt, which only grew with time. The warriors who fought alongside it could notice how Triborg little by little started to become more… human-like. Oniro decided to question Doctor Rotwang about it eventually.
Even Doctor Rotwang himself was surprised by what the Lin Kuei told him and decided to do some tests on Triborg. As it turned out, somehow, it wasn’t even bound by its programming any longer. It was capable of making its own decisions, but decided to keep fighting alongside the Lin Kuei for being everything it knew. For everything anyone cared, Triborg was now more than a machine, it was a sentient being.
After learning that he had outdone himself with his creation, Doctor Rotwang reported his finding to both the Lin Kuei and the Red Dragon, who started to discuss what they could do about it. Two members of each respective clan ended up finding an answer.
Oniro had already decided he didn’t want anyone to follow him because they blindly believed in his cause, and this new being was no exception. He made sure to reunite with Triborg constantly, teaching it about the free will it possessed, about how it didn’t need to follow them any longer if it didn’t want to, that it could make decisions. Triborg was initially confused by all those alien concepts to it, but it could start understanding eventually, not only thanks to Oniro, but thanks to his first friend.
Blaze had also been created in a very different way to most sentient beings among the realms, so he thought he would be the most appropriate person to help Triborg adapt. He constantly spent time with Triborg, and made sure it could visit different parts of Earthrealm or other realms in which they would be welcomed, especially everything which had made Blaze appreciate life, the sight of families spending happy time together being a very important part of it. Triborg… could start to recognize it experienced feelings during its time with Blaze, it felt… good, especially alongside him. It even eventually noticed and understood it had formed a particularly strong bond with Blaze...
Triborg gained enough experience and development to make important decisions. For starters, he decided that he wanted to be seen as a man, he felt comfortable if he was recognized as one. And so, the Lin Kuei and Red Dragon started to treat him as one from them on.
He also felt intrigued by various concepts when he discovered they had a more… ‘abstract’ meaning than any definition in his database could offer. He asked many people what was a ‘family’, since apparently many thought it wasn’t restricted by blood or legality. Everyone he asked gave him a different answer, which helped him reach his own conclusion. In particular, he could recognize there was someone he could call a father: Oniro, who had made sure to guide him and take care of him. From his conclusion, that also meant he had a brother.
Triborg decided to reserve those conclusions for himself for some time. He… felt scared about what the reaction of his found family would be, nervous, even if he couldn’t fully recognize it. That changed one day, during a difficult battle against the Edenian Regime forces. Sektor was hurt during the conflict, and Triborg decided to go out of his way to rescue him. When Sektor asked him to let him be and prioritize the mission over his survival, Triborg decided to give his answer: ‘Analysis: Brother in danger. Decision: Save him’. After returning Sektor to safety with the rest of the Lin Kuei, he explained what he felt to Oniro and Sektor, who actually proceeded to accept him with open arms as part of their family. It made Triborg feel a lot of joy, so much that he decided to change his previous silver appearance for a more red one to celebrate him now being a member of their family.
A machine but also a sentient being. Triborg fights against the Edenian Regime not because his old programming dictated it, but because he has decided to do so alongside his friends and family.
