Mirror Cyrax/TR Cyrax Bio
A warrior for as long as he can remember, Cyrax was born in Botswana, in communities that had historically been attacked from time to time by menaces from other realms, due to somewhat common phenomenon in Earthrealm of random interrealm portals appearing out of nowhere being even more common in that region. This had caused many of the people there to become warriors in order to protect their communities, and Cyrax was one of them.
Searching to be an ideal protector, Cyrax educated himself in the ways of the warrior. He built his own philosophy as one, in which he valued honor and will as not only a vital part of a fighter, but of a human as a whole. He also learned many skills as a martial artist and a user of technology, mastering many weapons to complement his hand to hand combat. With those skills, he managed to become quite a prominent protector of his community, which earned him the attention of a subclan of the Lin Kuei, the Zaki.
With Oniro’s reforms having happened some time ago, the Zaki had stopped being assassins to become protectors already, so they had gone there to offer the different communities their protection against threats, which the people gladly accepted. They also offered Cyrax a place among them, which he also accepted, believing that with the resources of the clan it would be easier to protect his community. During his time in the clan, he also found another cause to fight for, since their objective to protect Earthrealm as a whole was fitting for him.
Cyrax’s skills continued growing and becoming more impressive, eventually earning him a place in the main Lin Kuei clan. There he became good friends with many of its prominent members while being there, such as Sektor, Kuai Liang, Bi-Han and Tomáš Vrbada. He proved an especially good duo with Sektor due to both being experts in usage of technology, and was definitely close to Sektor despite how emotionally distant the son of the Grandmaster used to be from others. Those were such good times that Cyrax definitely misses them…
It all started the day Bi-Han died. Cyrax had fought at his side in the fight against the Shirai Ryu, and not only was he unable to prevent the death of his friend, but also suffered grave injuries during said battle, so grave that, when his comrades carried his barely alive self him back to the Lin Kuei’s base, their healers determined that he wouldn’t survive… Unless…
Cyrax was given anesthesia for the process that was about to take place. When he woke up, the first person he could see was Sektor, who had overseen the process as soon as he was notified it was necessary for Cyrax to survive, and offered himself to explain to him what had been done. Before Cyrax could ask him what he meant, he started to notice that half of his body felt strange. Many parts of it had needed to be replaced with robotic parts to ensure his survival, something which had only been possible due to the Cyber Initiative being advanced enough to try a soon version of it.
Sektor had known Cyrax didn’t plan to volunteer for the Cyber Initiative, considering it something that would take his humanity from him. He explained that he had made sure only the parts required for his survival were replaced, and that he still wished to apologize if it made him feel wrong. Cyrax told him it wasn’t necessary. He wasn’t mad at Sektor nor at any of the healers which had saved him. He was disappointed at the situation. At both the loss of part of his body and of Bi-Han.
Despite everything, Cyrax attempted to continue being the best protector he could, even if his mood was usually low while trying to adapt to his new body and being remembered of what he had lost. He also felt uncomfortable working alongside Kuai Liang. He didn’t blame him or anyone who fought alongside Bi-Han that day at all, but Cyrax just couldn’t bring himself to look at the face of the brother of the friend he could do nothing to save. Little did he know that leaving Kuai Liang to grieve alone would lead him to take some questionable decisions.
When Kuai Liang decided to organize his coup against Oniro, Cyrax was among the people he contacted. That led to a particularly heated discussion between the two of them, in which Cyrax initially tried everything to convince Kuai Liang it was a terrible idea and begged him to let it behind while he had the chance. But in the end, it was Kuai Liang who convinced him of his point of view.
Could they say they were really protecting Earthrealm just by opposing the Edenian Regime and similar threats? What about the constant war and division between the very people of their realm? Those who caused countless tragedies constantly, be it the loss of families, lives, or traumatic experiences such as the one Cyrax had to live through. Cyrax tried to find an answer, and yet… the part of him who wished to be an ideal protector and mourned the loss of part of his humanity couldn’t help but agree with Kuai Liang. He ended up accepting his offer despite his doubts. He however asked him to confront Oniro in… as much of an honorable way as they could, given the nature of a coup. Kuai Liang told him he didn’t plan to do it in a different way. It would be a direct confrontation, not a sneak attack, and he would avoid any death that wouldn’t be necessary. He did fulfill those promises, allowing Oniro and the defeated members to live in exile rather than killing them.
Cyrax feels remorseful over his decision more often than not, alongside the likes of Tomáš and Kuai Liang himself, but they know they took it because they believed it was for the greater good and they cannot go back now. While Cyrax doesn’t feel comfortable working alongside the Edenian Regime and its allies, the Shirai Ryu especially, he knows Kuai Liang is completely honest when he says their alliance is just a means to an end. They will use the resources they offer to unify Earthrealm, bring ‘peace’ to it. And then, the will have to ensure the Edenians do not put their selected people from Earthrealm in charge of it (something they have done which the like of Naknada and Zaterra, allowing only native people from those realms to rule them only if they are likely to become their allies and almost completely agree with their ideals) so they can join their ‘pacification’, since the new unified Earthrealm government should be ruled by those who look for the best of their people and realm. It will not be easy, nothing they have done in a long time has, but they hope they will be successful, especially with the plans they are making alongside Sareena and her demon allies…
A fearful combatant, despite maintaining many of his ideals of honor, Cyrax has ultimately chosen the cause of ‘peace’, and you can be sure he will fight for it with all his being.
