Day 18 of Weightlifting
My hardest day yet. Oh my GOSH. Who knew triceps would be so bad?! The rep is now officially upped to 12! :)
3 sets of standing dumbbell Extensions
3 sets of tricep dumbbell dips (behind the head)- 20 lbs (this killed me hehe)
3 sets of lying Barbell press (close grip, to maximize triceps)
By this point, I’m dying, and can barely lift anything.
A set of 5 lb lying dumbbell extensions, to get some blood flowing
Then, the real kicker: AGH
2 sets of tricep press (machine) on 55 lbs.
It surprised me that I got through 55 lbs on this one, since last I did this, I did 50. And this was after using the 20 lb’er on the tricep dumbbell dips, which was 5 lbs more than last time I did the exercise.
So, when I managed to pull off 1 set of 12, that was amazing. THEN, I did another, by not halfway through, I was already panting.
By the last few reps, I actually wanted to cry (sorry if I’m scaring you HAHA.) I needed to do one more, but every time I tried, I could barely push the handlebars down.
I actually stood up, and cleaned the machine, and was about to grab my things when:
My friend’s advice rang into my head: One of the greatest discoveries a person could make is to do something they thought they were afraid to do.
So, I got back on that machine, MUSCLED my way to the halfway point, and depleted all life and limb from my triceps as I finished my last treasured rep.
I walked out of there feeling like a fucking badass. A dead, wiggly arm, fucking badass.
Also, @ravaslight had some great advice: On your last rep, if it doesn’t feel like you’re lifting a house all by yourself with no one around to help you, then you’re not doing it right. It took me several tries, and I’m sure my mind was screaming “WTF ARE YOU DOING” in that moment, but later, I’ll look on it with glory and fondness. :)
Edit: I tried to do a push-up, and my arms were violently shaking. VIOLENTLY.
Thanks for reading, haha!
Boy are my muscles sore and boy have I missed this feeling.
This is what "tricep day" for a farmer looks like! Rolled that round bale solo, all the way from the far back of the barn (see it in the upper left corner? This was on the left of that), down the path, through the gate, and all the way across the pasture. Then rolled the hay ring from its previous position, over to the bale, and dropped it on.
I may have stopped a few times during this to yell over my shoulder at Savannah, "I hope you appreciate this!"
Note: she does not. She was mostly just offended that the hay was moving away from her during most of this process.
Day 11 of Weightlifting- Getting Gayns!
‘Gayns’ came from the bi/pan meetup I went to. :’)
Triceps day! Unfortunately, didn’t get to do as much as I wanted (HURGHHH). BUT, I did get some progress done. :’)
