Types of Neheburs - Undead
Types of Neheburs from the Magic of Dawn series by Leah Dougherty.
Undead Neheburs are magical creatures with a cold core, and are usually created from Wild Magic condensing over mass graves.
Bold means they live for over three centuries on average.
Lich: Liches resemble corpses of non-magical creatures (most often humans), although very rarely some may appear as corpses of Neheburs. Liches are most commonly known for their powerful magic, and ability to work well with the dead. Some liches are said to even be able to summon forth hordes of non-sentient undead armies, or call lost souls from the spiritual realm. Liches do not die of old age like most Neheburs, with some living well past tens of thousands of years.
Yrs: Bodies vary as they are always a patchwork of different dead animals.
Lo’phrey: Undead beings created from a massive cremation of corpses. They rise from the ashes as a spirit of fire before reforming some ash into a skull to use as a head.
Vampires: Their true form is a fusion between a bat and a human, with a massive mouth lined with many rows of teeth. Vampires appearances and abilities vary upon their clan, as all clans draw from their Blood Fountain. Vampires are the only undead born from a hybrid undead, and not created.
Banshee: Banshees most commonly are seen as transparent humans with an ethereal glow about them. They have a powerful thrall inside their voice which can be used to cause individuals such significant fear their heart fails them. Banshees naturally gravitate toward musically gifted humans, often watching over them and acting as “guardians” or “angels.”
Valkyr and Valkyrie: Valkyr (male, black-winged) and Valkyrie (female, white-winged) are justice-focused creatures. While their raw magical power is lower in comparison to their fellow undead, in terms of fighting prowess they are considered the best among the undead. All Valkyr and Valkyrie are able to conjure and maintain mythic armor and weapons that are unique to each warrior.
Dralls: These undead commonly take the appearance of drowned corpses. Undead born from mass water graves, these Neheburs prefer dark waters to reside in. They are well-known for their gentle nature, and will always save drowning creatures they come across. Unfortunately, their bodies cannot handle dry land, or any direct light for very long—even with a human skin—and thus they rarely venture out from Under Rome. They have the smallest magical core out of all undead.
Triddles: Described best as deformed scarecrows, these undead are created when a significant portion of plants die in one area.
Dethnyte: When a selfless sacrifice is made in a magically-enriched area there is a small chance for a dethnyte to emerge exactly one year later. These powerful knights are unique in the sense they come into world completely mature, with an abundance of knowledge. They are skilled warriors, and naturally gifted in the five major colors. Due to this they are considered the most powerful kind of undead. Their true forms are never revealed outside family, as they always wear their signature black armor.
