Symptoms of a stroke

The main symptoms of stroke can be remembered with the word FAST:

Face – the face may have dropped on 1 side, the person may not be able to smile, or their mouth or eye may have dropped.

Arms – the person with suspected stroke may not be able to lift both arms and keep them there because of weakness or numbness in 1 arm.

Speech – their speech may be slurred or garbled, or the person may not be able to talk at all despite appearing to be awake; they may also have problems understanding what you're saying to them.

Time – it's time to dial 999 immediately if you see any of these signs or symptoms.

I don't do personal posts to often...

But I need some support, Tumblr, and I feel close to my followers even though I’ve never even talked to some of you.

My 31 year old brother had a stroke yesterday and is currently blind and can’t move his left side. We don’t know what kind of stroke it was yet, and it progressed overnight. The situation is not looking too positive. He has several tests lined up for today, so hopefully we will know more and be able to stop it from getting worse and start his recovery.

All I ask from you, tumblr, is to keep my family in your thoughts, prayers (if that is your thing), and send positive vibes. My dad is taking this pretty hard because he lost his dad to stroke and his brother changed completely after he had his, but they were both much older than my brother currently is.
