Hello. You’re looking for this one. - Jandy

Summary: I need you like no other, no, I'll never find another… Or, ten years after high school, Betty turns up on Jughead’s door on a stormy autumn night.
Hi! I lost a fic where Betty and Jughead had a child young and they thought he died but later they found that Alice put the child up for adoption and they go look for him
It’s driving me crazy that I can’t find this. This is a SUPER old fic from when the fandom was relatively new - and it was on tumblr. I remember it was a little boy and they end up going and getting him…. the first story in the tumblr series was Betty running out of her wedding to Archie - to be with Jug (who she’d been in a super long term relationship with before).
All that being said - I can’t find it. I’m hoping someone in the audience can link us. If you know - please let us know! Thanks!
@winterova coming through in a clutch! Yes, I think you’re right about this fic. Here you are, @reinsprouse - Enjoy 💙 Jandy
For Better or Worse by @adorebughead (11/11 - T)
Summary: Betty Cooper had known that she had wanted to marry Archie Andrews since before she could remember, so what’s holding her back? When Jughead Jones turns up at her wedding after eight years, leather jacket and cigarette in hand, secrets rise to the surface that make her question everything.
Do you know any older / more experienced Betty fics?
Hmmm, this was surprisingly tough so I enlisted some help from @shibbycat ! Happy reading & please review! - K

Summary: College graduation was supposed to open up a never-ending well of possibilities. At least that’s what Jughead’s counselor had said. If a never ending well of possibilities included sleeping on his best friend’s couch while Sweet Pea’s dogs ate the last of his shoes, then yeah, they were pretty accurate. Just when things start to look hopeless (even more than when he’d run out of ramen noodles before his paycheck came back in junior year) he submits one last ditch application to Lodge’s Luxury Living Apartments: a low income complex with a confusing cast of characters. Veronica owns the place and her husband Archie can’t stop playing his guitar at all hours of the night. There’s wannabe gossip YouTuber Kevin, and whatever the hell is happening between him and his roommates Moose and Midge. Cheryl, a disgraced socialite and her partner Toni, who runs a tattoo parlor and grows a few interesting plants on the balcony.
And then theres Betty, who lives just a floor above him and might have the prettiest smile in the entire world. Maybe he’s stumbled into the perfect kind of chaos.
or Jughead and Betty are neighbors in a shitty apartment complex and find a little happiness together

Summary: Jughead Jones never planned on having his sleep ruined by some elite blonde girl. He didn’t plan on falling for her either.
Betty Cooper never planned on rebelling against her parents. She had a life sketched out for her, one of luxury, high society and no personal choices.

Prequel of Oneshot 1 (Part 1 of possibly-to-be-continued-but-also-possibly-not)
Okay, so at first I intended to put this prequel of that-damned-oneshot up in two parts, then in one part, then in two parts again. So this is the first half, because it's turning out much longer than I intended.
Depending on the reception to this, I may or may not continue it further since the topic can be sensitive to some people and I really don't want to overstep boundaries or anything like that. :S I've had a couple of my friend read this part over to see what they think, and they were positive so I'm not as scared about posting this part as I am about the rest. DD;
Her mind having been filled with nothing but pokemon and gym battles for the past year, it was unsurprising that Serena had hardly given the prospect of relationships outside those with her pokemon a second thought.
So when, after Diantha’s Mega Gardevoir had finally fainted, Calem had sprinted up to the platform she had been fighting from and smashed their mouths together, she had frozen in place. Allowed the confusing swell of emotions in her throat to overwhelm her, and finally respond after a few moments, vaguely wondering if what she was feeling was actually desire for the boy attached to her lips, or whether she was still riding the high of victory.
She had been oblivious, it had seemed, to Calem’s growing affection towards her throughout the year. Shauna had thought it obvious, Serena found out when her friend managed to pull her aside for a quiet word during the resulting celebrations for their new champion.
“Serena!” Shauna had squealed, jumping excitedly at the knowledge that she had noticed something her friend had not. “You didn’t know?” Serena had just shook her head dumbly in reply as Shauna listed the ‘signs’ off on her fingers – “He wanted to prove himself to you with Mega Evolution!” and “You didn’t see the way he’d watch you when you were battling?” and “Why do you think he was so determined to face Team Flare with you a couple of months ago?”.
Serena had met Calem’s gaze across the room as Shauna talked in her ear, the pair of them blushing furiously and looking away sharply. They managed to avoid each other (and the undoubtedly awkward conversation that would result) up until the celebratory parade in Lumiose City a week later for their efforts in defeating Tem Flare.
“Calem,” Serena had been the first one to gather up the courage and pull him aside from their other three friends. “We should talk.” He had agreed readily, an entertaining combination of both relief and terror on his face.
They had established, however, that – while Calems feelings were clearly the stronger of the two right now – they would try a date, and see how it turned out. Serena, eager to make him relax, had slipped her hand into his and squeezing lightly as they were hurried out to meet Professor Sycamore and the clamouring crowds.
The first date had been undeniably awkward for both involved. Sat at the tables in Aquacorde, each cupping a hot chocolate since the weather had begun to turn; they avoided each other’s gaze and tried to think of conversation topics outside of pokemon or battling. They had finally settled on describing their childhoods – Serena’s in Kanto and Calems in Kalos – after he had expressed a surprise at her knowledge of Professor Oak’s work.
It had ended well, laughing together as they walked back to Vaniville with clasped hands and Calem pulling her in for a chaste kiss and shy smile before they both retreated to their own houses. Her mother seemed to be more excited than she was, pulling her in for a tight hug before releasing her to go upstairs with a shout of “Bring him round for dinner!”
Serena groaned in embarrassment as she fell onto her bed, burying her face into her pillow as she tried to assess her mixed feelings. Of course she liked Calem, they had been friends as well as rivals for the past year… but whether she liked him in the same capacity as he seemed to like her?
Confused - and frustrated because of it - Serena released Fennekin from her pokeball, pulling the small pokemon into a hug and muttering into her fur as though she held all of the answers.
Despite the fact that she found herself largely unable to completely decipher her own feelings, Serena slipped into a routine with Calem – ignoring the niggling feeling that she shouldn’t lead him on and instead revelling in the comfort he provided. Between her duties as Champion with Diantha, and his training with Mega Evolution, they would go on dates, ranging from the cafés and restaurants of Lumiose City to training their pokemon in Victory Road, before parting with a quick peck to the cheek or lips.
The first time they appeared together in front of Professor Sycamore a few weeks after the parade, holding hands and laughing quietly to one another, Serena blushed a deep red at the older man’s teasingly wiggling eyebrows as he approached the pair.
“Congratulations!” he declared, clapping both of them on the shoulders and pulling them into a brief hug. “However, I believe the pair of you have successfully helped Sophie win our bet.”
“You were betting on us?” Serena asked indignantly, faintly aware that the fact had caused Calem to beam from beside her. Sycamore only laughed in reply before waving them over to his desk to check their pokedex, Calem still grinning and Serena with her arms folded across her chest, frowning to herself as she wondered why the bet bothered her so much.
~~
After winter had passed and spring had fully established itself, they began to grow slowly more and more intimate, more so at Calem’s insistence than Serena’s. Still relatively unsure of her true feelings towards her friend-turned-rival-turned-boyfriend, Serena tended to push him back at a certain point, usually no further than light touches and passionate kisses, unwilling to lead him on any further when guilt clawed at her chest.
When she told Shauna how she felt during one of their rare excursions to Lumiose, her friend merely shrugged, suggesting that perhaps Serena didn’t let herself relax enough around her boyfriend to let her feelings known – both to herself and to him.
Serena nodded slowly, and the next time she and Calem were alone in her house, gradually making their way towards heavy petting in the safety of her bedroom, she forced herself to relax. Or at least she had tried.
“I love you,” Calem breathed into her ear as he slid a hand under her skirt, and she froze entirely, her body like ice as her heart stopped in her chest.
“A-and I you,” she replied slowly, thankful that her voice had remained strong while her heart and stomach seemed to be tying themselves in knots.
“Serena?” he peered down at her curiously, sharply removing his hand and moving to push himself up and off of his bed.
“It’s nothing,” she instructed him firmly, pulling him back down by his t shirt into a slow kiss, desperate to distract herself from the utterly wrong feeling in her throat.
Calem had broken away eventually, stroking her cheek with his thumb as he cupped the side of her head and looked down at her with a small smile.
“What?” she asked curiously, her own hand coming to a rest playing with the hair at the nape of his neck.
“I love you,” he repeated, and Serena covered her face with a pillow.
“You’re soppy,” she teased, her voice muffled by the fabric, and his response was to tickle her sides lightly.
Once he had left – after another slow, languid kiss with noticeably more input from him – Serena slumped back onto her bed, pressing the pillow to her face once more and groaning into it, squeezing her eyes shut.
Surely she should feel happy with Calem’s admission. She should feel happy, loved and content. So why was it she felt lonelier than ever?

Unable to meet up for the next week, with Serena caught up in duties as the Champion, covering for Diantha briefly, and Calem training harder than ever at the Tower of Mastery –“I’ll be facing you soon!” he had declared over the Holo Caster. “Just wait!” – Serena took a day free from battles to fly to Lumiose City.
As such, when arms wrapped around her waist from behind, tugging her into a loose hug, she squealed and lashed back, successfully hitting her target on the shin with a well-placed heel of her boot.
“Serena!” The all-too-familiar voice of her boyfriend groaned from behind her, the arms disappearing from her waist with a sharp intake of pained breath.
“Calem!” She spun around, hands clapping to her face in alarm as Calem rubbed his leg. “You scared me!”
“Clearly,” he replied drily, however she had spent enough time with him throughout the past few months to see the affection in his eyes as he said it. What she didn’t recognise was the apprehension alongside it.
“What’s wrong?” she asked immediately, frowning at little as he straightened back up. He blinked, clearly not expecting to be called out so quickly.
“Serena-”
“Something’s wrong,” she cut him off. “So don’t even try to-”
“Come with me,” he instructed, hesitating a moment before holding a hand out towards her. “Serena, please. I’ll explain when we get there.”
“Get where?” she asked, still frowning but taking his hand all the same. “Why are you here, anyway?” He just squeezed her hand lightly and smiled over his shoulder as he pulled her out of Vernal Avenue, into Bleu Plaza and down an alley onto South Boulevard. “Café Soleil?” she asked in confusion as they came to a stop.
“Don’t you remember?” Calem responded as they sat at one of the outside tables. “This is where I asked to be your rival.”
“Of course I remember,” Serena laughed, hitting his cap to the side affectionately. Calem didn’t laugh along, only smiled at her. “Calem,” she sat back in her seat. “What’s wrong? Tell me?” He hesitated for a moment, his eyes focusing somewhere over her shoulder before his lips tightened and he tilted his head down slightly so his eyes were hidden by his hat.
“I think we should go on a break.” Serena stared at him. They were silent for a few minutes as she digested what he had proposed.
“What?” she asked somewhat dumbly, her eyes wide as she stared at him across the table.
“I’m not stupid,” he told her quietly, playing with the zip of his jacket as he always did when he was nervous. “I know you’re not as happy as I am.” He looked up, finally meeting her gaze. “It would be unfair of me to keep you involved in something you’re not happy in.”
“What do you mean? I’m happy!” It sounded fake, even to her ears. Calem just smiled ruefully at her.
“Serena, don’t.” His voice was soft now, his eyes focused on the table between them. “You haven’t been as happy as I have from the beginning.” He paused, shifting uncomfortably in his seat. “You haven’t said you love me,” he added in a quieter voice.
“I have!”
“No,” Calem shook his head. “You haven’t. Every single time, you’ve just replied ‘and I you’.” Serena stared down at her lap.
“So then, why a just a break?” She couldn’t help herself from asking it, and immediately wished she hadn’t when Calem flinched at the question. “I mean…” she trailed off, unable to think of a way to salvage the damage.
“I love you,” her turn to flinch. “And… I’m hoping you could… learn to love me?” He groaned and put a hand to his forehead. “I’m sorry,” he squeezed his eyes shut. “I don’t want to pressure you. I want you to be happy.”
Serena reached forwards, taking hold of his hand and squeezing lightly. “Calem,” she called softly. “Look at me.”
He looked up, her gaze catching his as she rubbed a thumb over his knuckles in comfort.
“One month break. Okay? We can do what we want, figure out how we feel, then in exactly one month we’ll meet back here and talk it over. Agreed?” Calem inclined his head minutely.
“Agreed.” Serena smiled, squeezing his hand once more before letting go and standing.
“I’ll… see you in a month?” Calem nodded again, his eyes fixed back on the table once more as she dithered for a moment before walking away, her head feeling somewhat like it had been stuffed with cotton wool.
No longer in the mood for her intended plan of doing some shopping while in the city, she let her legs carry her aimlessly while the conversation replayed itself in her mind.
She had by no means been sure that she had loved Calem… but she had been fairly certain that she at least fancied him. Enough to date him for as long as she had, anyway. So, why had their agreement lightened the burden she had felt bearing down on her shoulders recently?
She found herself near the base of Prism Tower when she emerged from her semi-dazed state, leaning against one of the visitor information signs of Vernal Avenue and peering up at the structure.
“Serena!” Someone called her name. Not Calem, she realised with instant relief, turning to find Professor Sycamore making his way up the avenue.
“Professor! Hello!” Serena grinned as he stopped in front of her.
“Dear Champion, it is good to see you,” Sycamore bowed dramatically, and Serena snickered into her wrist, only faintly trying to hide her amusement. “Calem isn’t with you?” She stopped laughing at that, her face falling into confusion once more.
“We… aren’t together right now. Like… together.” She made a vague motion of pressing her hands towards one another.
“Ah, my condolences,” Sycamore bowed his head a little, seriously this time.
“It’s… fine,” Serena waved her hand and shook her head. “I’m not sure why… but I’m fine.” She frowned down at her hand and he peered at her in concern, clearly understanding that it was a new development for the girl before him.
“Ma chère, would you like to sit down somewhere?” he asked softly, his own hand landing on her shoulder comfortingly.
“I wouldn’t mind going back to your lab,” she admitted, before clarifying. “Somewhere where there aren’t many people.”
“Of course!” he exclaimed, pulling her to his side as he guided her back down the avenue, his hand remaining on her shoulder as though he feared she would wander off if he removed it. Serena let him, smiling a little as he began to loudly tell her about some of his latest Mega Evolution research in an attempt to keep her mind off of Calem, at least for the moment.
“Where are we going?” she finally cut him off after they had entered the elevator – he had released her shoulder at this point, certain that she wouldn’t run off within the lab – and she had watched him press the button for the top floor.
“I live above the lab,” he explained. “You can relax there, ma chère, and I can make you a drink.” He smiled at her. “I must prove myself to be a good host, non?” Serena nodded, unsure how to feel about realising she was about to get a look into the Professor’s private life.
She held her breath as the elevator came to a stop, peering around curiously as Sycamore lead the way into his lounge.
“Ah, excuse the mess,” he rubbed the back of his neck with one hand, the other on his hip as he surveyed the room – the two sofas, coffee table and a large portion of the floor were littered with papers. “I haven’t returned up here for a couple of days.” At Serena’s curious look, he expanded. “I was reading,” he motioned at the many papers as he kicked his shoes off, Serena doing the same with her boots. “And I realised something, so I had to go to my office and-”
“And not sleep for two days?” Serena guessed, a quizzical eyebrow raised at him as she surveyed his bloodshot eyes and the dark circles beneath them for the first time. “I’m sorry to say it, Professor, but you do look somewhat like death.” She paused for a moment. “And your socks are atrocious. I may as well insult you all at once,” she reasoned.
“Ah, Serena you wound me,” he laid a hand on his heart, moving to one of the seats and divesting it of papers. “However, you may still come and sit. Coffee?”
“Sure. Thank you,” she smiled, sitting down in the intended space and peering at the top sheet of paper in the pile Sycamore had created before disappearing through a door into what Serena assumed must be a kitchen, judging by the noises of clinking mugs now coming from it.
Picking the paper up, she crossed her legs on the seat as she began to read. Soon enough, however, a mug patterned with pokepuffs was suspended in front of her eyes, steam rising from it. Her eyes travelled up the arm of the man holding it as she lowered the paper, stopping on his intrigued face.
“Interesting?” he asked as she took the drink with a murmured ‘thank you’.
“The bits of it I understand are,” she replied, wafting a hand over the top of her mug to cool down the liquid within as he cleared a space on the sofa opposite her, sinking into the welcoming cushions with an obscene groan that caused Serena’s cheeks to heat up.
“Ma chère, you are always welcome to study with us, should you so desire,” he told her after taking a gulp of the scalding hot liquid without even flinching. “I must admit, it would be a tremendous opportunity to investigate your skills with Mega Evolution.” She nodded slowly, her eyes falling from his face back down to the paper in her lap.
They fell into a companionable silence, Serena gradually making her way through a few of the pages, and Sycamore leaning his head back as he rested for the first time in two days.
“Okay,” Serena eventually broke the silence. Sycamore, whose eyes had been slowly slipping shut, sat up properly, blinking blearily at her.
“Pardon?” She smiled at him, placing the papers back down on the rough pile to her right.
“I would like to study here,” she clarified. “Diantha will be back to take over Champion duties soon and… I would like to occupy my time with something constructive. If it’s alright with you, of course.”
