brocon... but at what cost
god im so sorry for Stillllll going on about trigun stampede/stargaze but vash's presentation in it just rubs me so Wrong. especially after reading the original 2 volumes from the manga and seeing just how angry he is under the surface. ofc in the 98 anime its there too, but it feels so much more like animosity in the og manga. perhaps its because the 98 anims added extra moments of him being goofy (love that) and the added pervert stuff— the latter being a product of its time, not an excuse for how abrasive it is ofc. the way he snaps after legato says knives' name for the first time and stays that way,. he gets so vindictive and he is so so ruthless. we see it in 98 but it feels so prominent in he manga especially, and ive not even begun trimax just yet
yeah, he still struggles to pull the trigger on people because he doesnt want the principles and the memories of rem to die. but, he isnt what i can only describe as a "soft boi" who's just angsty, helpless, pathetic, complacent, and sad all the time faking a smile like stamp/star portrays him. among their first encounter with each other in the OG manga/anime, wolfwood does make a note that vash's smile is empty, but theres just this.. certain way he is in stampede & stargaze that feels like.... like he isnt allowed to be openly angry to the extent he is in the manga.
he's so somber and quiet. feels like he wallows in self-pity at his own inaction at times and he CONTINUES to not take any action.. how are the (other main) characters carrying the story ????. it feels like he fumbles everything and fails to take action when he should. yes, he does fail to take action at times in the original/98, its one of his biggest flaws, but they take it to a whole different level in the reboot.
sorry 4 the long post i doubt any1 will even read this anyway let alone gaf but oh my GOD as time goes on i find more and more to be upset about with stampede and stargaze writing-wise
wym this isn't how episode 4 went
wolfwood would you love me if i were a worm. wolfwood. wol
i remember i did a genuine 'wahoo!' when wolfwood was brought back again in trigun 1998 after a few episodes being incommunicado. yes i do love you nicholas, you christian priest who has simultaneously something going on underneath and unfailing homoeroticism with the protagonist.
no surpise he's my absolute *favourite* in trigun. also i need more interactions with him and millie they are so adorable (人 •͈ᴗ•͈)
Trigun is one of those pieces of media where my shipping scene is "either two couples or A Polycule"
oohhh vash the stampede and nicole class of 09 at the sushiriya what chaos will they commit
