A comb carved from a whale-bone, from a whale exactly 100 years old, killed by the decay of age. A supremely uninteresting fossil, of the sort a six year old will find enthralling and carry around in a bucket for a day, but will find on a shelf at age 16 and not remember. The stub of a candle just burned out, still too hot to touch but with the potential for further flame gone.

Perhaps a bolt of fine lace, some aged wine, and portrait done in your likeness if it were ever allowed.

Ah, how thoughtful!  However, I am very particular about my portraits.  I refuse to tolerate mediocrity.  There are far too many amateurs who fancy themselves masters!  Artists and magicians are not so different in that respect.  The last painter that I sat for had been praised as an unmatchable protége, but he did such an abominable disservice to my nose in his work that I saw fit to cut his off!
