okay rant time.

There has been a seemingly uptake in men liking mascs or butches and publicly talking abt it, and in all honesty i think this is rooted in misogyny, homophobia and also rape culture.

The issue is not men finding masculine women attractive, thats fine! you can have a type! its the fact that they are SPECIFICALLY after butches, studs and masc lesbians. There are so many masculine straight women, but they do not care about them, why? I think it has to do with this fantasy a lot of straight men have of turning a lesbian “normal” (attracted to men). These men cannot STAND the idea of a woman not being attracted to them or their entire gender.

Multiple of these men have stated “the fact they dont want me makes me want them MORE” and i dont think i have to explain why this contributes to rape culture but i will anyways! there is a very common idea of “if you just keep trying she’ll say yes!” now realistically this is obsessive, stalkerish and coercion. someone continuously asking you about something to which you keep saying no to before finally giving in and agreeing is coercion. In sexual settings this is rape/ sexual assault. in romantic situations this is forcing someone to be with you just to be free of your constant torment. these men have this idea that if they just keep trying they will get what they want.

Which leds into both homophobia (specifically lesbophobia) and misogyny. they do not take women or their relationships outside of men seriously. They dont take women seriously. In their heads the fact that these women dont want them makes them a prize to be earned. They cannot control lesbians because lesbians want nothing to do with them. this fantasy often goes hand in hand with turning said lesbian both straight and into a docile housewife. they want control. they want to break women down until they are shells of themselves. Until they will do whatever they want.

Ion wanna hear any “not all men!” or “its not that deep” because time and time again it has been proven it IS that deep, also who cares that its not all men? majority of men while not technically being involved in rape culture actually support it and benefit from it and im sick of seeing grown ass men come online thirsting after women who do not want to be sexualised by them

my take on the shlumbo and shmeegus drama.

I dont think either of them are in the wrong and the only reason yall are attacking shlumbo is because shmeegus is more popular and you want clout. Think about it! Shmeegus has only been outside 4 times (only 3 when the incident occured) it’s not like it’s a known thing that he goes there or that he might leave something of his on the ground. Shlumbo saw that candy and he ate it because there was no owner around! for all he knew it was abandoned and he was giving it a safe home. Imo shmeegus is being immature about this and not to mention he isnt deleting hate comments towards shlumbo!!! shmeegus shouldnt be leaving his stuff around and expecting others to avoid it! its his responsibility. yes his emotions are valid, he is probably not used to this and doesnt know as many rules as us which is why i dont think the blame should fall on him either.

It sickens me how quick yall are to jump on a hate train against someone you dont even know :/ its highkey parasocial and i wouldnt be shocked if shmeegus came out n said he was uncomfortable with how people were treating him.

i feel like a lot of people believe they are “burnt out gifted kids” when in reality they only did well in elementary because they were taught the basics earlier than others giving them this sense of superiority as their grades were higher than others and they knew “more” when in reality they couldnt fully comprehend what they were being taught nor could apply any critical thinking to these large ideas they were shown. And then once the work became more “you have to understand this to apply it first” instead of “you only need to learn what were telling you and put in no further insight or effort” their grades plummeted and instead of realising that the reason behind this was because they didnt put in the work or attempt to understand the concepts they preached they instead blamed it on “gifted kid burnout” when in reality it was more like “slightly above average kid gets introduced to concepts they hadnt yet learnt or thought of and now they cant preform as well because they dont have a leg up”

obligatory christmas rant that isnt about anything christmassy!!

One of the social constructs i understand the least is the idea that when a situation goes down (where you know more than one party of course) that you should automatically believe one side or the other due to connects (e.g. believing friends/family instantly) without even checking in to see what anyone else has to say.

Like wdym im “disloyal” because i asked for the other side of the story?? im trying to understand the situation better, everyone has bias and usually the truth is somewhere in between both sides.

I feel like a lot of people expect blind loyalty for nothing and these same people complain when their friends turn out to be bad people when they could just’ve, yk, ASKED OTHER PEOPLE??

I totally understand if a friend is venting to you and you wanna stand with them, thats just regular loyalty, but why is it expected to ignore the other party and what they say because you “know they wouldnt do something like that”

Does the idea that you’ll be forced to be dragged away from the comfort of ignorance and arrogance scare you? does the idea of not mindlessly consuming media make you afraid? do you think that if you even for a second stop and think that you will realise that your entire life and self has been based on a false belief because that was easier to face than the truth? that was easier to deal with? or is it that you are truly apathetic? you’re so self assured in your beliefs that nothing, no showing of fact or new information could change that? are you simply okay with “idgaf”ing your way into no control over what you consume, what you speak of, what you think or even what you wish? do you hold so little agency that it doesnt matter to you? how have you wasted your life like this?

Yes, you CAN draw whatever you want! it is up to the artist! but when all you draw is white men.. maybe start to use your fucking head and understand that you, like everyone else, HAVE BIASES. No not having black ocs doesnt make you racist but if all you draw is white people maybe THINK about why you are doing that??

I know these people do not want to hear this because, well, they always have to be the victim and can do no wrong, but art is inherently political and a show of your beliefs. I remember a few months ago (when art fight was on) a video came out talking about the huge misogyny issue in art fight and the art community in general and because tiktok mfs cant understand anything more complex than a harry potter book they started playing this game of telephone going “WWAAH WAHH PEOPLE ARE SAYING IF YOU DRAW MEN YOU HATE WOMEN!” which wasnt what the video was about in the first place but thats for another rant. People are like allergic to just sitting down and thinking “hm i wonder why i prefer this?” I kept seeing so many trans guys (js an example i saw the same shite with every other group) going “i only ever draw men because i want to relate to my characters!” you can relate if they are women too, or if they were black, or disabled or anything! No you should not be forced to make marginalised characters just to appease people as a token, honestly i think thats worse than having none at all! but for the love of FUCK use your fucking head. Stop acting dense for once. You can relate to characters who dont look exactly like you! you do not have to but stop using that as an excuse!!?!

I will not do the moral superiority thing here and go “well IM a good person because i draw xyz haha!” for many years i only (consistently) drew a very specific type of white man. wanna know why? because i related to that and because i hadnt resolved a lot of bias around stuff like disability! i wouldnt make gay characters because i struggled accepting i was queer! my art was a reflection of me and my beliefs (which were very self centred. i was like 9-12 and very repressed and selfish and mentally ill bla bla bla of course i was a fucking prick) and when i did differ from that formula it was what i would see around me! (shocker more white men and women.) but once i got older i recognised this and tried hard to overcome it and learn how to draw a variety of different features and skin tones and body types.

no you do not have to do all of this, i do not care about you or your art but you have to be able to see that it is an issue and it might even be affecting your own work instead of just excusing everything you do with some sob story
