trip gate is so fucking dumb to me cause like what do you mean people treat shane tripping as a deliberate thing when any hockey fan AND FUCKING HOCKEY PLAYER knows that everyone trips, falls and faceplants.. even durung playoffs, even during crucial moments - they are playing on ice that gets worn down; every single star hockey player has faceplanted multiple times per season, this is not some unheard of thing
not to mention that even if a player trips, there are 4 others players on the team that are supposed to keep the other team from advancing/scoring - even if they are trying to keep out a fast generational talent type of player
shane tripping which gives ilya the opportunity to advance is shit luck but that is part of hockey, the rest of shane’s team was there on the ice to try and stop ilya from scoring, take the puck from him
for the team to be pissed at shane is dumb but they are paranoid butthurt homophobic racist pieces of shit but for the bigger hockey community to be talking about this as a betrayal.. you gotta examine why and what their motive is..
for this to be the straw that broke the camels back with the voyageurs/metros is.. a choice of a plot point
