You talk about when Mike got caught looking at Will in the desert. I talk about when he didn't.

This is before Will started talking, he was just gesturing in reaction while Jonathan and Argyle were talking one on one. But I'm rewatching the scene thinking about Mike and there is a lot of time between the inciting moment of Argyle saying they're gonna kill El and the triple take at the end of this scene. He had a full soliloquy alone, that triple take was not an immediate reaction and I think we forget that. He had been sitting with himself in silence, tuning them out for 0:56 seconds before that triple take. He isn't listening to them. He's thinking. And while he's thinking, he looks over at Will 0:12 seconds before we see him do it up close.

As I say, he's surprised he got caught because he usually doesn't. He wasn't expecting Will to be looking at him because he wasn't when he tried 10 seconds prior.

What’s you take on Mike’s triple take in the desert scene?

I must admit that Mike’s “triple take” is one of the most difficult things to decipher about him in Season 4. I think the best answer is @emblazons’ excellent analysis here, which I highly recommend everyone read.

Shovel/Tender Emotional Music Scene

idk if anyone has really talked about the little scene before the triple take from mike, but i was just rewatching and realized that mike goes from staring at the ground, to looking over at will before will says something to jonathan. (the "more weed?" comment lol) and then mike looks back away when will starts talking, jonathan walks off, and then we cut to the [tender emotional music] with will looking over at mike who is staring at the ground again deep in thought right after he was just looking at will? i mean we've already assumed he must have been thinking about will considering he looks over at will while thinking, not knowing will was already looking at him, and then triple takes gay panics. but i just think it's interesting that right before he was staring at nothing deep in thought the last thing he was looking at was will.

idk maybe i'm over analyzing it or maybe it's maybelline ✨
