yall are a bunch of round earthers ya hear?
the greatest moments of my young life so far, in no particular order
- stepping foot into the pacific ocean for the first time having hitch hiked there regardless of everyone I know thinking I’d fail & attempting to talk me out of it
- peaking on dimethyltryptamine with D in PF & hearing god implore me not to worry so much, I’m on the path if I realize it or not- seeing my name as a published journalist printed in the paper
- watching Coldplay play Politik live
- not bombing during my first stand up comedy set
- the first time I felt the energy of a crystal with my bare hands
- watching the fractal, flower of life dome ripple across the sky as I held her after our first kiss. higher than shit mentally & physically, I asked myself if she felt the same way. know what happened next? believe it or not, I quite literally saw through her eyes for a brief moment. She did :) - that one thing about a month ago. Future Greg, you know what I’m sayin!
- making out with my lesbian escort friend who said immediately after “if more guys kissed like that I wouldn't dread it so much”
- asking god to "show yourself” while smoking a joint at the lake post hash bash 2016 & what happened next
- feeling Reiki course through my aura for the first time & watching the carpet wiggle around exactly like it does on mushrooms - bawling my eyes out when I realized that what I have to say IS vastly important EVEN IF the people around me couldn't care to hear it
- cloud carving with B on LSD at ~2am the night of the blue moon (7/2015)
- fog bending as J drove me home & his puzzled reaction
8/13/17, ~11am
Yesterday I rode in a truck bed for the first time in awhile. I laid down to avoid the fuzz, & using my bag as a pillow, I was actualy damn comfortable. Staring up at the sky helped me recall a distant, yet vivid, violent memory, & today I realized unless I get this all out somewhere Its not only going to fade, but keeping this to myself sabatoges any potential future historical "fiction" writing career, so what the hell. Make some popcorn, buckle up. I used to care, but today I don't give a fuck.
The best, most intellectually stimulating thing (for me, then) that being a part of the golden horde had to offer was watching it's evolution as time went on. Evolution that turned towards devolution as our handfuls of warriors grew to dozens, hundreds, to more than you could count. When you grow up riding horses, shooting bows, hunting & farming with the same people, you can read them & they can read you. Thats not so easy with a horde. Mind you, I was born to a farmer, not a warrior. That all changed when the fire nation attacked.
Considering I decided to incarnate ~233km from where it began, we were hit pretty damn early on, & there's no doubt in my mind I saw that coming from the other side of the veil. Violence isn't the answer, but there can be lessons within it, lessons you might as well cement into your soul over & over until you really, deeply get it. The anticipation of seeing a glow in the distance approaching was nothing compared to the seer terror watching them come over the crest of our hill evoked. We didn't stand a fucking chance, it was over before it even started. Most of us were slaughtered in the first 15 minutes, I was about 12 with a slightly older sister. Mother died awhile back, father left two days before to the next town over, knowing we could mind the land just fine. We hid in the best place we could find, a thicket of bushes near the river on the edge of our village. That worked for an hour or so, until they realized there's no way EVERYONE on our land could be missing & started sweeping the property. Then it all went wrong within 10 seconds. With her hand cupped around my mouth to stop me from screaming as they got closer, we were pretty lowkey, biding our time in the shadows. UNTIL SHE FUCKING SNEEZED. they found us & neary killed her without question, until one of them slapped her to stop the wailing & brought up how I was nearly of age to raid. They debated it for a few minutes, then apparently reached a compromise. If I showed promise right then & there, they'd spare her life, turn her into a concubine & me into a warrior. If not..... game over.
The challenge was simple. They handed me a bow, three arrows, & said if I could hit the yellowish, squash looking kinda veggie across the field from us across least once, we're good to go. Considering I was damn near soiling myself & shaking like like a leaf, I was not confident I could make the shot. That being said, backing out wasn't an option. Let the arrows fly, or die. Missed my first shot Fuck fuck fuck fuck no no no no oh god why Popped the clutch- ¡twang! goes the bowstring Weeeeee! Says the arrow I hit that son of a gun! But I'd soon be aiming at targets with quite a bit more bone marrow
sometimes life just slaps you with a quote that stirs something in your soul
“I didn’t watch the whole documentary. After a few episodes, it was too painful. I kept wanting to scream at Pam! It took me so long to do so many important things, it’s just hard to accept I spent so many years being less happy than I could have been. Jim was five feet from my desk and it took me four years to get to him. It’d be great if people saw this documentary and learned from my mistakes. Not that I’m a tragic person, I’m really happy now, but it would just make my heart soar if someone out there saw this and she said to herself, “be strong, trust yourself, love yourself, conquer your fears, just go after what you want and act fast because life just isn’t that long.” - Pam Halpert, The Office
every time I hit the road I start evolving so much. I feel so alive out there and so stagnant at home. maybe im just running from my problems, just another misguided ghost. maybe. Sifting through contrast to find clarity about what I prefer helps me expand too. the stable unstability of a new horizon every day is so thrilling, so electrifying, it just makes me so damn frisky I can't help but smile way too big. I can't wait to see what else the world has to offer. I'm ready for the clarity, I'm ready for the work and the transformation. I can feel it getting closer, the anticipation is so invigorating I can feel the energy in my feet churning as I type these very words. I'm finally getting into alignment-booyah.
day six
Alas, I'm not the most dedicated blogger, but at least it's because I'm having so much fun I can't be bothered to slow down and distract myself from the raw moment at hand. The youpee is breathtaking, the more time I spend up here the more I love it. The open wilderness, the people and the fuckin stars man, it dosent get much better than this. Smoking blunts on the side of the road, mellow vibes everywhere you go and lake superior right across the way. Life is good.
day two
was stranded in the vacinity of crystal lake for hours and hours, eventually got a ride into Traverse and started really making progress after that. Hitched a ride to the other side of the city at the same marathon I got a ride from last summer with Wes and Jiggabooth, after that two rappers and white equinoxes picked me up. Smoked one with Zach, immediately after he dropped me Dock picked me up and told me some of his stories about being on the road(meeting people who biked from Maine to Patagonia, sleeping under overpasses, watching the sunrise ontop of the great pyramid), can't wait to be a cool old guy too one of these days. Got a ride to 28 and slept for the night, took a minute to make sure I was safe from the misquito onslaught but it was well worth it, falling asleep to their constant buzzing is something I won't soon forget. Once you figure out the law of attraction hitch hiking is almost too easy. Ask, and you shall recieve. I need some coffee and a cigarette.
day one
the feeling of getting back onto the road is one of my favorite things. Packing all your things & stuff into a backpack, saying your goodbyes and setting off into the world is something I can only describe as exhilarating-& I'm positive that's never gonna get old. I got out of Hell, Pinckney and down to 94 pretty quick. Listened to cudi for a minute on the ramp, then eventually got a ride to Kalamazoo with Chad. Chad's truck had a fucking viking ship on it, that was gnarly! We drove around and smoked some bowls, he threw me $10, a redbull & some nugs and sent me on my way. After that two rides in a row went past me, turned around and came back! Kim's dog mowgli was adorable, he's not the most photogenic tho that's for sure. I headed up 31 for a few hours and ohh man talk about synchronicitys, that was redicilous. Went to Aldi and got some baby carrots, a bauguette, sour candies, Roma tomatoes and canned pasta rings for like $6. I might have overdone it, all this food is so fuckin heavy. I got a ride from Max after that, then with Greg! I've never been picked up by another Greg before, that was intense. Greg was a cool Chicago cat who was going to Frankfurt for a sailboat race back to Chicago, good luck my friend! He took me all the way here to Crystal Lake, I found some suitable hammock trees and slept for the night. I think I'm gonna head towards traverse city today, maybe farther north we'll see.
