Yo, the blog's "agoodcartoon" after a SomethingAwful meme in the political cartoon thread; it's a gag to take the dumbest comics and deliberately misinterpret them to the near opposite meaning and append the summary w/ "...A Good Cartoon". Best one was Dubya in a steam train labeled "economy" teetering half on a cliff. A donkey looks at the coal car labeled "taxes" and states it "should be raised". So taxes are the fuel that drives the economy, and adding taxes would save the train. AGC.

i totally thought about that, but tbh i think jasper and auto seem to align better (plus, both have canonically near-fatally tazered our beloved protag), i see peridot as more GO-4: following orders, hisses like a cat, GETS REKT

Loved the GF post! You ever hear about Fixed vs. Growth based mindsets? It's a really interesting dichotomy of how we perceive failure/intelligence. Ford's problem in this model is he sees smarts as inherent. If he or other people fail, it's because they didn't start out skilled enough.

Thank you! And it’s true. Ford’s problems is that he only sees and values one type of intelligence; if anyone doesn’t fit this mold, he doesn’t hold much respect for their skills, as it is the case with Stan and Mabel.

I really hope he changes his mind.

Loved the ep. and was proud of Steven, but not seeing the big difference between this and when UG wore a dress in Say Uncle. Is it the mustache?

uncle grandpa dressed like rose quartz was a visual gag based on the dissonance between his “masculine” features and rose quartz’s femininity, in a scene focused on uncle grandpa’s ridiculousness and with no plot or character relevance. 

this was the pay-off of an entire episode where steven shows outright delight with feminine things and it either goes uncommented on or is supported for it, by other characters and the narrative! it’s something steven is doing, as he says, for himself (having been more excited about the performance and its trappings than sadie was), and isn’t ashamed of doing it, but in fact has fun and gets cheered on for it!! so i think there is a very big difference
