‘Anthem • 1 • Triumph As One (Lore Compendium & Analysis)’ releases in 15 hours. On this inaugural entry, I commence my ongoing coverage of @anthemgame with an extensive, in-depth exploration and analysis of everything revealed so far (characters, lore, world, locales, creatures), as well as engaging in some informed speculation, riffing and predictions based thereupon. I’ll also be dissecting and interpreting the symbolism of composer Sarah Schachner (@minimoogs)’s #InstantMasterpiece, ‘Valor’, and how it was (to use a fitting expression) instrumental to me *finally* being able to break through my walls of jadedness (which I’d build up after being heavily let down by a certain *other* shared world title) and, amazingly, to actually *truly* believe that the impossible *can* be done — that an online-only space and story *can* successfully have an uncompromising and fundamental emphasis on the single-player experience at its absolute *core*, with *no* concessions made to the depth, immersiveness, well-constructed/well-presented-ness of the world & lore, instead of devolving into a bro-tastic-looter-shooter. Somehow, @biowarebase have done it — and as ‘Valor’ builds into its mighty, sweeping crescendos, filled with determination through trepidation, and courage in spite of fear, I truly believe that, with Anthem, we are all witnessing a #Bioware we haven’t seen in a while: A Bioware With #SomethingToProve...with Anthem, you can *feel* their ambitions taking the next transcendent steps in their evolution as a studio, just as they did with Baldur’s Gate, KOTOR and Mass Effect, when proving they could define & redefine the RPG genre.
