we know the gods didn't exist in this world from the beginning. we know that the fae and demon kind were around before then and clearly they can do magic. so how the fuck did the Shapers fuck with magic so hard that it's fucked without them? what the fuck kind of post mortem protocols did they set up to stop true resurrection in their absence? why did the death of the goddess of the forge, a domain not typically strongly associated with natural phenomena, cause a storm that's been going on for 70 years and counting? what did they do? what did they do???

The introduction of Dr. Amry Talter in Critical Role has made me absolutely feral with the implications. She and the Totality are academics casting cleric spells with Intelligence instead of Wisdom. She's a cleric who expressly rejects mysticism and superstition in a world where all the gods are dead!

That her spells even (barely) work at all raises all sorts of questions about how the gods even worked. Did they actually need mortal worshipers to function, or were they just extremely powerful entities that came from somewhere else and simply demanded fealty and worship from beings they saw as less than them? If someone like Dr. Talter can access divine spellcasting without a god, how exactly did clerics work, considering the shapers seemed consider sorcerers as their most favored servants and priests?

In Aramán, is the divine a tangible force in the universe that can be understood with observation and study like wizards do to the natural world, or is the Totality's observing it a passive act of worship in itself that is close enough to the relationship between mortal and a god that they've accidentally stumbled into being clerics of another stripe?

That Brennan would just so casually drop in this absolute disaster of a nerd like a socially awkward lore grenade is fucking brilliant and unbelievably evil move by him, well played sir.

Going off the new lore notes that tied significant campaign events to days of the week and in-game comments, the days of the week go:

hunter's day (tuesday)

smith's day (thursday)

farmer's day (friday)

trader's day (saturday)

priest's day (sunday)

victor's day & weaver's day have not been placed in relation to other days. however given ilumi is the goddess of the moon and the god of the sun's day is essentially our sunday, i would guess that weaver's day is equivalent of monday and victor's day is wednesday, but that's just a guess so.

the months of the year are also named after the shapers if trozemere is a pattern to judge by, which it probably is. more than likely we have 7 months in a year rather than 12.

given aramán seems to have pretty regular cycling annual seasons and not GRRM style mega seasons (as candle feast is the autumn equinox/a yearly holiday), we can probably assume something around 365 day year generally. at least until proven otherwise.

if we're basing it off that, that's 6 months with 52 days in it (7 weeks + 3 days) and one month with 53 (7 weeks + 4 days)

given autumn begins a little over midway through the month (30 trozemere 71), trozemere is likely the penultimate month of the year and the final month of the year will contain the winter solstice.

if i were going to make an educated stab at it, tansul and sylandri's months would encompass summer and spring, with rauwyn and ilumi possibly being the winter months due to gnomish and halfling homelands apparently being in the far north in colder climates

Hannan, literally the next episode: The reason she withheld it was because that was the only way the other gods would be okay with her giving elves all of these abilities.

It hurts to say it, but this made me lose interest in this campaign.

Characters having different ideologies and exploring them has always been my favorite part of stories. It's why campaign two was my favorite, with people from all walks of life and different beliefs coming together.

Campaign 3... not so much. Don't get me wrong, it was the funniest and was great to finally see pcs from earlier campaigns make cameos... but when a Major theological crises rolls up, and the only pc/ guest pc or npc that actively defends the gods is Exandria's Flat Earther? The discussion was far too one sided for me and I quickly lost interest.

So when this new campaign rolled up with its premise, I was ready to stay off the train this time... until Vaelus showed up. She was so different, so fascinating because out of all the characters, she was the only one to actively be on a Shaper's side. I was excited to know more, eager to see the exploration and the differing perspectives and that maybe, just once, they could find common ground and make peace... and then Vaelus just completely folds, and is rewarded and encouraged for it.

Frankly, Ashley deserves all the praise and encouragement, she's been through more than enough in life. Anyone actually going after the cast need to touch grass and get a life. But if they're really going to do a Bells Hells 2, electric boogalooo where if you believe in a god then your either a villain or just stupid and gullible... that's just comes across as hurtful and condescending. Furthermore, why should we even bother focusing on Vaelus, Tyrrany or Wicander then, if thats the moral of the story?

Sorry for the rant, I have enjoyed alot about this campaign too... I guess I'm just... tired
