So this is more a General Approximation on how these events would look when they play out. There are explanations. Those will go under the cut

This includes headcanon stuff bcuz I doomed myself by getting attached to a side character, even worse, a side character in a mostly dead fandom. (Fate worse that death 💔) Anyways if u think my headcanons are unrealistic and bad then i think u should go wade into the waters of a beautiful forest river and become one with the salmon

After the events of World Tour, Hickory and Dickory have a bit of a falling out with each other. Dickory is mad at how willing Hickory was to throw away their chance to save yodeling just bcuz he got attached to people. They’re supposed to be bounty hunters, they don’t do friends. Hickory is obviously upset by this. He knows his brother was just trying to look out for him and their way of life, but that doesn’t stop it from hurting. So Hickory decides that he wants some time away from Dickory in pop village (or whatever pop village becomes in the 2d show. Trollstopia? Idk). Poppy is willing to forgive him, after all she’s the one who he was willing to sacrifice his chance of saving his and his brother’s musical identity for. She decided to keep a bit of distance tho, considering how Was still originally planning on stealing the string and betraying her and her friends. That and Poppy thinks some time away from all those things will help him feel better. Branch on the other hand, after he hears about what Hickory and Dickory’s plan was, is having NONE of it. He doesn’t kick him out or anything, but Branch trusts him about as far as he can throw him. Which is to say “barely any.” Hickory understands this, and tries keeping to himself outside of the occasional friendly interaction with Poppy (while Branch stands ominously glaring at him).
Hickory still feels really super bad about what he’s done, and in an attempt to make up for his mistakes, does lots of manual labor around the village. It helps that it give him something to focus on other than being kinda super lonely. He also takes it upon himself to do some foraging for food and supplies and stuff (not that the village is running low on any of that, he just thinks it’s useful to do. One day Hickory decides to venture a bit farther from the village in hopes of getting at some better resources, namely berries. And he finds just that! Practically a grove of giant raspberry bushes ripe for the picking! So ofc he gets straight to business picking them thangs. Let’s pretend he’s got like a wagon to put them all in idk
hey 🫵 that’s my guy. Anyways he hears some noises, so he decides it’s a Great idea to see what’s making them. Troll Jumpscare. Who is that (trick question yhats my sona Lmao)? Why are they kinda sorta Dull? Why has he never seen them before (he’s pretty damn sure he’s at least Seen everyone back in the village, he’d surely remember a troll looking like them)? What’s with the sick ass cloak?? (Why are they so damn short? /j) They practically have a staring contest for a few moments and this stranger’s got some Spooky Peepers.
Way to go Hickory, u have scared off the wild animal.
Despite his better judgement, Hickory decides it’d be a good idea to make sure that stranger troll is ok at the very least. They did look really spooked by him, it’d be rude to just leave them without apologizing at least! So he opens up the bush the stranger scuttled off into, trying to make sure they’re ok, introduce himself, apologize for scaring them off, and to ask if they live in the village and he’s just been unlucky and hasn’t ever seen them.
Hickory does eventually find the stranger in the bush, tucked up into their cloak on the ground, looking like a terrified prey animal. They’ve got the fluffier moss hood puffed up around the back of their head, almost looking like they’re doing that thing some animals do where they make themselves look bigger than they really are in an attempt to scare off a predator. They have the look of cornered prey that’s so scared it circles around into aggression, like if Hickory moves to quick or gets to close they’ll snap forward and bite him.
Not pictured is him slowly and gently approaching them while reassuring that he’s not a threat and not gonna attack. Terrified stray dog cryptid x Guy who knows not to reach in for pets yet
