And... The humans in ME can be pretty on-the-nose any race?? The aliens even mention several times how diverse humans are? Where did they get the "one-race-fits-all" anyway?
I wanna say it was maybe mentioned that Ashley and Kaiden fit the “in the future! all the humans are mixed and ambiguously brown” thing since their ethnicities weren’t ever really presented but even if you subscribe to that thats not a hard and fast rule for every human character. There are still humans that are mono racial or at the very least mono racial presenting and you can make a Shepard and Ryder thats specifically whatever ethnicity you want.
As for Sloane I’m not sure what else she needs to do, to be considered black or why we’re even questioning it that’s like putting ambiguously brown on Liam even though it’s pretty fucking obviously that he’s black. Which is why I hate that trope it’s almost always reserved for black women characters the minute they don’t fit some small arbitrary paradigm of what a black woman is supposed to be and look like. Is it the accent that’s throwing you off? lol. Because I’m here to tell you I’m lighter than Sloane but nobody is out here calling me ambiguous.
