elizabeth and her sisters own a small, quirky bookshop in a small, quirky town. elizabeth is beyond happy to stay small and in their own world, reading as much as she can. unfortunately for her, her sister jane has fallen in love with mr. bingley, a man who runs a huge online store for ebooks, ereaders and digital literature. he brings with him his insufferable partner, a pretentious and awkward man named darcy. darcy talks about the virtues of ereaders and the internet and has more money than any bennett, living or dead, has had combined. elizabeth hates him. he seems awkwardly intent on being in her way.  // 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8

belle’s new flower shop is across the street from the cursed rose tattoo parlor. she’s friendly with the tattoo parlor’s eccentric staff, but not so much with the owner, a man they all affectionately call beast. belle tried to bring beast roses once (because of the shop name!) and he roared at her to get out- get out! she caught only a glimpse of a scarred face and angry eyes. now she and beast are involved in a slightly passive aggressive turf war and annoyed letters. but she sees once through the west window- beast has kept her roses, long after they’ve withered. she sends him more.

dimitri did not want an assistant. he has a partner- vlad. but vlad think he might retire soon and they also needed an assistant to take notes and help organize the files. which wouldn’t be so bad if they hadn’t hired anya. anya, the beautiful annoyance who insists on tagging along - and solving - most of their cases. anya, who keeps dimitri on his toes with her quick wit. anya, who somehow wiggled into their lives and became something like indispensable. anya, who has the red hair and the paris necklace of the missing daughter from their latest case, who may be the missing girl they’ve been hired to find. anya, who may be destined for something greater than private investigation- something greater than dimitri, he thinks. // 1, 2, 3,  6, 7, 8

robert is very proud of his successful, no-nonsense coffee shop that thrives in new york. he serves coffee without the frills and it works just fine, thank you very much. and one day, his young daughter convinces him to hire a new barista- a young woman named giselle who seems to think she’s a fairytale princess. she bakes pies and cookies and adds them to the menu; she decorates the window and remembers the names of regulars and doesn’t listen when robert reminds her that his business is just coffee. but he has to admit... there is something magical about her.

persephone has been betrothed to a man she’s never met or even seen. despite her mother’s attempts to end the arrangement, persephone is taken to meet her husband to be in a black carriage. she arrives at a black manor, where black dogs greet her. when persephone finally meets her intended, she’s surprised to find a rather lonely man. when he asks her to stay, she agrees. // 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8
