I'm like 20 minutes in or so, and it's Hen's birthday. Only Athena has said happy birthday so far. No one else seems to remember.
I really hope this isn't the "Pretend to forget your birthday, just so we can surprise you at the end of the day with a big party of all your friends and family," trope. Because if it is, I'm gonna lose my shit.
I really fucking hate that trope. I hate how the birthday person just flips a switch at the end of it. From feeling sad and unloved to "omg you did remember" and everything's great. How could you allow your loved one to go through AN ENTIRE DAY of thinking, feeling, BELIEVING no one cares about them or their birthday, just to say, "haha just kidding."
Maybe it's just a me thing, but that pisses me off so much. And it always happens to someone who loves their birthday; who's excited to have this day. Just for nearly everyone to go that whole day acting like that person is invisible. Ugh I hate it so much.
Even if it's not this trope, and they actually forgot, I'm still gonna be upset. Her FAMILY didn't say anything. It's not like it was a hectic morning or anything. A "btw, happy birthday" is better than nothing.
I'm at the part where Bobby's making an announcement, so maybe the team will tell her afterwards. I just really hate this trope. I find it unecessarily mean and hurtful. You can tell someone happy birthday and still plan a surprise party. You don't have to ignore them or the importance of this day for them, just to make the surprise more impactful.

So, one thing I can’t stand in fic is om/egaverse tbh? It’s always seemed so gross to me. What is the appeal of having these really rigid social systems or whatever and mpreg? Like I thought we left mpreg in middle school, come on guys.
