Hello new comedy that isn't a 3 camera sitcom and therefore isn't innately terrible. I was pleasantly surprised by this little pilot. I guess I wasn't looking forward to this show because Malin Akerman has always kinda rubbed me the wrong way... it's either cuz she is stunningly attractive in the most conventional way it's difficult to look at her OR because of her character in 27 Dresses... which for some reason I've seen more than once.

ANYWAY I was able to get into the show despite this prejudice and also because WELCOME BACK TO TV, MR. JOSH LYMAN. Ladies and gay gentlemen, can someone please explain to me why Bradley Whitford has got it going on SO HARD? It is alarming the amount of love and heat I have for Bradley Whitford... well mainly Josh Lyman... but whatever. Let's just have a moment for Josh right now.

THAT LEAN. Honestly.

Okay, moving on. Trophy Wife is about Malin Akerman being the luckiest bitch alive aka being married to Bradley Whitford. The catch is she's the third wife and he has three children from the previous marriages. The ex-wives are both two very funny and fierce women (Marcia Gay Harden and Michaela Watkins) and they are around a LOT. So Malin is a former party girl who is now trying to be the perfect stepmom. It actually kind of reminded of Stepmom without all the cancer and snow blowing references.

The cast actually seems to have nice chemistry. I was very excited to see Michaela Watkins who I thought turned out some really good performances in the indie comedy film world this summer (Afternoon Delight and In A World) so I am pleased to see her getting that steady paycheck in something that isn't terrible. And hello the original Harper in Angels in America, Miss Marcia Gay Harden, good to see you! Also this little asian kid is a STAR. LOOK OUT FOR THIS GUY, AMERICA.
