❝ Something tells me that's a bad idea. ❞
troubleifieversawit liked for a starter ;;
Tough and terrifying and downright cool, Riley Abel walked the halls of Boston Military Prep like she owned the whole damn building. There were many things Ellie admired about her friend but it was Riley’s fearlessness that had first drawn her in. Because nothing and no one touched Riley and on the very rare occasion some stupid kid plucked up the nerve to start a fight she swatted fucker like it was as easy as breathing. Riley was untouchable. Ellie wished she could be that tough. Sometimes. Most of the time.
Maybe not all the time. Maybe not when she was sneaking to the toilets ten minutes before curfew to clean dried blood off Riley’s knuckles because the older girl had gone and got into a fight with a boy twice her size and uglier than sin.
❝ Keep still. ❞ Ellie muttered with great forbearance. She did not mind playing nurse to Riley, after all they were friends –and sometimes, when one smiled too hard or hugged too long or stared too frequently, sometimes Ellie thought (hoped) they might just be more--, but that did not mean she enjoyed the thankless task. While one freckle-dashed hand lingered beneath Riley’s darker one, hardly daring to touch for fear that somehow the older girl would sense Ellie’s mounting affection from skin-to-skin contact alone, the other raised a soaked cloth and dabbed it gently atop Riley’s abrasions.
❝ Oh stop sulking you big pussy. You should be thanking me for getting you off him before one of the guards saw. ❞ She said a moment later, all annoyance replaced by a smirk that was designed to mock Riley’s demeanor. ❝ Are you gonna tell me what the hell happened back or am I gonna have to guess? ❞
❝ Did he insult Etta James? Angel Knives? Gimme something, Riley. ❞

✔: A plot you would love to play out with your character
anything Riley/Ellie (specifically the development of their relationship in the months between American Dreams and Left Behind) or Ellie & Marlene. I would also like to explore what it might have been like if Marlene or Tess took Ellie to Salt Lake City instead of Joel. I have no specific plots in mind, but anything angsty or fluffy would do. xP

There was something about Riley --an energy, a warmth-- it radiated from the girl like summer sunlight and warmed Ellie's mood no matter the days trials. Ellie gravitated towards it, and for the girl who'd had so little love in life there was something pretty revolutionary about that sort of friendship. Even as Riley chattered Ellie's ear off, filling the dorm with an excitable voice and leaving no room for silence, the young girl couldn't help smiling fondly.
"Will you just--" Ellie's words were broken briefly as she threw a balled up pair of socks in Riley's direction. "Shut up for a sec."
The ball flew through the air and hit Riley square in the chest. Ellie laughed to see the sight before her.
