#troublemaker ink

I love the Troublemaker inks, this one is Abalone. my friend Barbara sent it to me and I've got it in one of my calligraphy pens. I don't think I can capture the absolutely sublime shading in this ink until I get a picture in sunlight so I've tried to edit these in the photo app to get them looking closer to real life but it's hopeless, you can't photograph real pigments accurately

Painting for my grandfather for father’s day, of one of his pond lilies. Watercolors and fountain pen ink (Troublemaker Abalone) on cotton paper.

Excited to get some ink samples this week. I've drooled over Troublemaker Inks for years, but they're based in the Philippines and for a long time nobody in the US carried them. So I was very excited to learn that Vanness stocks them now.

Love love love shading inks. Troublemaker does dual-shaders. Not many brands do. Sailor is another, with their Manyo line. I have Manyo Hinoki and I love it.

A little simpler today: a Conway Stewart I picked up awhile back and had the worst time trying to fix the nib. Finally it writes!

I suppose I could have matched the denim blue of the pen with Diamine Denim ink, but I just got Troublemaker Milky Ocean and couldn't help myself. (It's so pretty!)

Conway Stewart is an English brand founded in 1905. The name has been bought and sold a few times, and the current version is made by Bespoke British Pens Ltd.

Troublemaker Sinulog Black

You don't hear about this one as often as other Troublemaker inks, probably because it's less flashy, but it's a great off-black. It's more teal than other black-greens like Wearingeul Shoot the Moon and 3 Oysters Black Moss, sometimes even looking more blue than green. If you like those type of inks, check this one out.
