Doki Doki Panic / Super Mario Bros. 2 (FDS / NES, 1987 / 1988)

I realized that for the sake of this project, games with really big casts of debut characters are gonna take a lot longer to get posted even if I'm making decent progress, leaving the project radio silent for a while. So I'm going to start posting smaller updates for larger games until I finish them! Here's just a handful of the characters from SMB2 I've drawn so far. Once I finish the full game, I'll add them to the full collage and make a proper update post!

WOW! THAT’s what they look like from another angle? Super Mario Advance was my first Mario game, so I am quite familiar with Trouters, but only from their in-game sprite, which is essentially an aerial view. Heck, even official art of the original game used that angle!

But the Super Mario Advance art... WOW! This is one of the most precious things I have ever seen! Let’s look at it again! And bigger this time!

There we are! More to love. Why the little frown? What’s bothering you? I don’t want anything to be bothering this adorable little fishy. Its eyes remind me of those pop-eyed goldfish, except on a cartoon fish, it’s incredibly cute, while on a real fish, it’s... well, I’ve always thought it was a horrific result of humanity trying to play God, but it turns out it’s from a bacterial infection pushing the poor fish’s eyeball out! Oh my goodness! Is that why you’re sad, Trouter? I’m so sorry! Someone get this fish to a vet!
