Can’t get over the gold-embossed details on the cover of this! I was checking out the going out of business sale at a local bookstore when I found this lovely book full of great drawings of stone tools - and signed by the author, Bridget Allchin. The name rang a little bit of a bell and I found her on TrowelBlazers - she was a pioneer in South Asian archaeology from the ‘50s onward. “The Stone-Tipped Arrow: Late Stone Age Hunters of the Tropical Old World” is based on her dissertation work on Paleolithic stone tools across Australia, Asia, and Africa.

‪Two new artworks I created for the #herstoryoxford exhibition celebrating #internationalwomensday -open to public Sat 10-Sun 11th March at St Catherine’s College Oxford. Marthe Pequart was a female archaeologist working in Brittany in the early 20th c alongside her husband Saint Just and daughter Helene. They discovered and excavated a range of Mesolithic sites, and Marthe was also an early pioneer of cinematography. I was attracted to the Péquarts because of my own interest in archaeology and photography, subjects me & my daughter also explore together. Original images of Marthe & Helene on site are overlaid with photos of my daughter as we discovered their work in Carnac & on site at a dig. #internationalwomensday2018 #marthepequart #helenepequart #trowelblazers #archaeology #photography‬ (at Lincoln, Lincolnshire)
