I accidentally deleted this cuz I’m dumb lol
So, because I’ve been writing a lot of Troyreen and I don’t plan on stopping, I thought I’d infodump about their dynamic a little bit.
Now, by virtue of being a smut author, the specifics of their sexual relationship (like whose the dom, who made the first move, and what kinks are on the table) change with every fic. But there are certain things I keep mostly consistent, even in fics where they’re not sexually involved (Quiver of Cobras).
One, Troy is the one most likes physical touch and affection. However, because of how hesitant Tyreen is, he refrains from initiating contact until Tyreen does it herself or gives him permission. He views long term or extended periods of contact as a treat (Better and Flying Blind). Two, Troy is the much more social and personable twin. He parties harder, makes friends easier, is much more curious. Tyreen is either performing for a crowd (even a crowd of one) or she’s withdrawn and guarded, convinced that no one around her has good intentions. Thirdly, Troy harbors more illusions about having his cake and eating it too. Tyreen is a bit more practical, understanding the sacrifices and hardships that comes with their decisions.
Finally, the biggest most important thing: their self-worth, their security in each other’s affections, and how they act accordingly.
In my version of the Twins/my interpretation of canon, Troy knows that Tyreen loves him. If she wanted him gone, she could just let him die. She could have him killed. Hell, she could have left him on Nekrotefeyo. Instead, she drags him along, feeding him what he needs. Sure, she often treats him like trash and calls him a parasite. But Troy agrees with her. He thinks Tyreen (and everyone else who cares) are WRONG to love him, but he’s aware that the love exists.
Tyreen, on the other hand? She doesn’t know Troy loves her. How could she? Troy has no choice about being around her. Any independence increases his chance of a slow and awful death. He’s stuck with her far more than she’s stuck with him. In her mind, if he could leave, he’d want to, and leave her behind.
Therefore, Troy fights for Tyreen affections, fights to prove that he’s worth something to her. If he can impress her enough, he’ll earn her love, and then she’ll love him better. Tyreen on the other hand, she covets Troy but keeps him at arms length. Eternally preparing for the day he finds a way to leave her.
