Ok I just love how different Maxwell is compared to Liam and Drake in terms of the pace of a relationship. I find the little detail of Maxwell always expressing his shy desire of taking things slow with MC heartwarming. I understand it could be frustrating having no steamy scenes with Maxwell in the early parts when god knows how many times we did it with Drake let alone Liam. But it just suits Maxwell so well and personally makes it all the more worth the wait.
Maxwell is a happy go lucky guy who dealt everything in a carefree manner because he said it himself, no one took him seriously to begin with anyways. But then MC came and she's by far the only one who actually gets him, the only one who makes him feel like somebody and it feels all new to him that he now finally fits and has a place in someone's life. My heart kinda broke when he said he wasn't the type that people wanted to spend eternity with, that people only wanted flings with him.
But then he met MC, and it all feels so different nevertheless he's not afraid, because being with MC is what he's been wanting for after all. Him taking it slow isn't him necessarily settling down but it's just him wanting some time to fix himself because he never had a good thing like this, and now that he has, he's just afraid of ruining it. (and he's still trying to grasp the idea of MC loving him back cuz it feels like an absolute dream to him)
So he takes it slowly but surely, something he has most likely never done with anything in his life before. Giving more meaning to the steamy scene with him in the later parts of the book. And showing more depth to Maxwell's new side in the story.
