Imagine Loki befriending Diana of Themyscira. Diana shares with him how her mother had lied to her about how she came to be, and tells him how her mother stated that she is not one of them, not a true Amazon (which was quite hurtful at the time).
When Loki tells her of his similar experience of being lied to by his parents, he asks her how she is not more bitter towards her mother. She tells him that it is because she came to realize that it was done out of love and wanting to protect her.
Loki recalls a similar discussion with his mother at Odin’s bedside and realizes, indeed, his mother loved him, too. He feels a bit of the old resentments fading away.
