watched Buffalo 66’ for the first time recently & I have some thoughts. Vincent Gallo is a disgusting man child, who made a movie about himself— honestly this movie is the manic pixie dream girl final boss.
“we aren’t supposed to know Layla & the story is about him & his trauma” womp womp don’t care. The message of this movie was essentially: it’s okay for men to traumatize young women if it’s healing their own trauma.
Christina Ricci said she regretted doing the movie later in life (not surprising) & that Vincent body shamed her & sexualized her- so that’s nice.(sarcasm obviously)

More About This Aesthetic
I suggest you read my first post but Truelo is a new subgenre of typical girly-aesthetics, that I'm creating. It's called what it is because of the character of Delores Haze- not "Lolita, light of my life, fire of my loins" but "plain lo" her before or without Humbert.
Staying true to Nabokov's intentions when writing the novel; Humbert Humbert is inherently an unreliable narrator. Although it isn't outright stated, the real Delores Haze is a far cry from a "true nymphet" (because they don't exist- but you probably already knew that). Humbert's "nymphet criteria" if you will, is physically impossible for a human at any age to achieve. Even if it was, Delores as-is wouldn't be considered one. Let me explain;
The following is book-accurate quotes or details that Humbert directly states is vital, for a girl to be considered a nymphet (physical attributes only): no makeup, no body hair, no shaving, no body odor, well manicured hands & feet at all times, no acne, moles, etc. graceful cat-like movement. Now, compare it to (again, book accurate) details about Delores: complains about acne, tomboyish style (before Humbert buys her clothes), indifferent to self-grooming, gets ingrown or irritated toes & finger nails, clumsy, loud, messy & rambunctious.
See what I mean? I grew up listening to music, people or other media that romanticized Lolita- not Delores Haze herself, but people upholding & trying to achieve "nymphet" status. (missing the entire point of the novel in the process) I wish more people cared about the girl herself, the victim underneath all the glamor.
That's exactly what this subculture is for; brainstorming, having open discussions about what the real Delores might've been like. Before we get into said discussions there's something I need to adress:
I've noticed a trend in subcultures or aesthetics related to Truelo slide a bit into white supremacy, agism/fear of aging, fatphobia, & a lot more. That behavior will not be tolerated in the Truelo community.
Truelo is: Inherently non-sexual, for everyone who wants to reclaim femininity, free of bigotry.
Truelo isn't: for people with fetishes related to Lolita, age-play or anything of the sort. White people, skinny people, straight people, cis people or able-bodied people only.
This aesthetic can be done by anyone- as it's essential raw, unfiltered girlhood, uncaring about pleasing anybody but yourself. All I ask is that it not be sexualized.
aesthetics/subcultures: coquette, Americana, vintage tomboy, 40-60s vintage, nymphette, teenage dream core, dollcore/dollette, dark coquette, ballet core, soft girl, fairycore, cottagecore, Lana Del Rey core & a lot more I probably don't even know of.
A kiss
Your lips and that kiss Fills me up with bliss. Those strong burly arms, Keep me out of harm. While you hold me up I feel so loved. Always so lost, Into your thoughts. Your kisses are my world Keeping me curled.
Those lips make wonder, Letting me to ponder. As I trod along to saunter Your name pounds as the thunder, My heart lurches with a rumble Your kisses are the wonder!
Now I am Pretty!
