#Yesterday my producer (when giving me something akin to end-year-compliments) said something like#'I don't know how you do it; you're the only artist on the team and not to mention the only woman'#And for a moment it threw me off guard so much because I swear this was the first time me being a woman was mentioned in my#7 years old game dev career#I mean I know there's still a clear gender disparity in this field but I need you to understand that the people I usually work with#(programmers and tech artists) see the world differently#So up until that point I was either A) a dumb artist who needs hand holding and restrictions and guidelines#Or B) someone who has shown enough interest in the programmer's work that can be spoken to like another programmer#(they KNOW I don't understand any programming)#So this clash with the reality of the world that a non-programmer sees was such a shock#Like huh.... I suppose gender plays a role in the world#Truly shocking#I could have sworn that the world is divided into people who know coding and these who don't (but have the potential to learn)
