Sometimes I get really emotional thinking about how much we trust bus drivers without thinking, and how, if asked, any menstruating person will give a spare pad or tampon to a stranger without a second thought
I need to write this paper but to do it I need to print out this JSTOR article
but that means leaving all my stuff unoccupied in the library while I go downstairs to use the printers....
Edit: I did it someone watched my stuff for me this is why small schools rock
Never trust strangers, and never enter a stranger's car...?
So, today I needed to get to this certain store that for some stupid reason or other does not have any bus stops near by, so for people without a car, getting to this store is really a pain in the ass since you need to walk by this highway(that seems like it's in the middle of nowhere, since there's a huuuge field of straw and grass on one side, and a forest on the other) that does not have sidewalks, only this 40cm wide patch of pavement beside the white line of the highway and a whole lot of mud and grass going off to the right.
Anyway, I was walking by this highway idly thinking up possible scenarios to happen to me if I were some character in a book or manga or whatnot. (I'm not the only one who tends to do this when alone and walking outside and really not having anything but your thoughts to entertain you, am I?) One of the scenarios being
"...and then a random car stops beside me and I get a ride to the roundabout at the end of this highway..."
Pff, yeah right, stuff like that doesn't happen in real life. Or so I tell myself...
and then, not more than 5 minutes later, when I only have about a kilometer left to walk, this car honks and stops beside me, the guy behind the wheel opening the door on the passenger side and asking me where I'm going.
Me being the usual me doesn't see anything wrong with this, so I jump in before any more cars comes up behind him and we clog up the traffic, and quickly tell him I'd appreciate a ride to the roundabout, to which he complies and drops me off exactly where I asked. I thank him, and we part ways.
This guy was, by the looks of him, and his accent, someone from the middle east, in his mid thirties or late twenties. I may be prejudiced, but that was completely unexpected on my part. I'm incredibly thankful, and he left me with a really warm and fuzzy feeling since, well, I see so little of this kind of kindness these days. It really made my day! <3
Sure, it might not be a good idea to trust strangers, and I've been told since I was a little girl never to enter a stranger's car, but sometimes being a little blue-eyed and naive can pay off.
