“Well! Pardon me for having emotions! Not everyone can just bury all of their feelings like you can, Eddy!”
He barks back at him through his tears.
Double D had had it with his family. What was the point of it all?! Everything he did, everything he was-The intelligence, polite personality, everything! He did so his parents could be proud of him. So, they’d notice him! And the one time he needed them, the one time he needed their love and support more than anything else, they had cancelled.
And then it all came crashing into his face. Eddward’s needs and wants were not important…..they didn’t care. All they cared about was work. He could do every chore, ace every test, hell, he could discover a new solar system for crying out loud, and they still wouldn’t notice.
His parents didn’t care about him.
Eddward then turns his back to his friend once more and buries his face into his kneecaps, crying even harder than before once coming to this realization.
“You couldn’t understand even if you tried! So just- leave me alone!”
Send me "Ours" for a drabble of our muses raising a child
This got super long WHOOPS
Eddward rarely, if ever, did things without thinking or consultation. He was never a haphazard, ‘throw caution to the wind’ type. He’d much rather leave that up to his dear chum and boyfriend.
But then.....he met her.
An exceedingly brilliant and gifted child of six in his class, who’s own mentality definitely surpassed his own when he himself was at that tender age.
Now, don’t get him wrong, Double D, or Mister D, as the children had dubbed him, always had gotten attached to his students, but this time it was different.
The little one, reminded him so much of himself, he couldn’t help but step in and speak to her parents about educational possibilities and what not, and to his horror, did he discover, that they were more alike than he could’ve imagined. Her parents, were dreadfully neglectful....they even spoke poorly of her, right in front of her, oh- he had to do something! Anything!
But what could he do? He was a mere teacher and she was just one of his students.
It wasn’t until they were having a short review lesson in the library, when her parents had burst in, on the run from the police....and then, the little girl had asked him, almost begged him to take her in. To raise her as his own.
And....he did. Without a moment’s hesitation or any thought whatsoever, he signed all the legal papers and adopted the little girl.
His daughter.
Ah, just thinking it of made his heart swell with pride and joy. But....what would Eddy and Ed think?
How could he be so careless?
Ed, he was sure, wouldn’t mind, considering how gentle of a dove she was, he too, may become attached, considering how he was a big brother and all...
But Eddy?
Eddy’s stance about children was very shadowed. Despite knowing him almost their entire lives, Eddward had often watched him switch back and forth on liking children to disliking them immediately.
His stomach had flopped in anxiety the first time he introduced her to him. But, after a short while, it seemed he also began to enjoy her company....in his own way. He’d dub her Sockhead Jr. or Squirt and he’d often tell her jokes or pull pranks on Ed or Eddward to make her laugh. It seemed that whenever she wasn’t at Double D’s side, following him around like a tiny duckling, she was at Eddy’s.
He scooches back as if the idea makes him uncomfortable. Though it’s probably obvious to everyone by now that Eddy was one of the only people he didn’t mind being touched by. The usual clear and eloquent speaking voice he has falls to a shy mumble, displaying that he was not ‘feeling up to it’.
“While I appreciate your attempts to cheer me up by manner of physical affection, I’m afraid that I am not currently in the best of moods right now, and your attempt would not bear any fruit. However, it is a little uplifting that you were willing to try Eddy. Thank you.”
