#tumblr as a collective group could benefit from like a bug that makes you unable to see your followers for like a month.#and i don't mean it in a malicisious way.#i mean it in a legitimate 'i see a lot of people who are clearly negatively affected by changes in the follower count'#'and while i understand what it may appear to mean'#'just taking the figure at a base value without giving it context is gonna give you the wrong image' kind of way #honestly.#try it.#bc if you hide your follower count and keep it that way and don't peek for like a month #you're gonna a) realise how much you check it and thus how many times per day you risk ruining your mood if the number goes down #b) have to check your mutuals more frequently #c) realise that if you're a mutuals only blog in the first place and you lose followers that aren't your mutuals........ it doesn't matter!#bc it doesn't!#95% of the time you don't know who unfollowed you.#you can't name them.#and at this point it's worth asking why do you want them still following you #why are you getting upset about someone you don't know and with whom you have no intention of roleplaying with #still following you?#especially when there's a very real possibility it's just tumblr culling deleted and terminated blogs and not even a real unfollower?#yeah maybe it stings if you notice you get unfollowed when you finally get active again or when you're posting a lot #and it can feel like people are annoyed with you but that's exactly what i mean!!#not only do we know that tumblr only does housecleaning when you've been active on your blog #even the real unfollows are most likely just people who had followed you in the interest of roleplaying and are reminded to check if you've #followed them back when you post more #/especially/ if you post ic stuff #follower count. doesn't matter.#if you're happy on your dash and w/ your partners #what the strangers you've decided you're not gonna interact with do with their dash doesn't matter.
