important news: i'm normal about try3. see you at 10
"...Chrono, I mean this lovingly, but you two are practically the only people who don't know. What do you have to say about the way you look at eachother? How you call eachother your one and only rivals? How is any of that-" She does a big gesture with her hands to truly drive the point home. (Because for Tokoha, matchmaking is more important than a 9-5.) "-strictly platonic?!"

This had to be by far, the worst idea they had ever had. At least, as far as Chrono was concerned this was the worst idea ever, the only problem was, convincing his teammates of this fact.
When the Dark Zone branch had announced a new event it had sounded like the perfect thing to spend the day doing. Had that was, until they got there and Chrono realized that the event was a haunted house. A big one. And if the sounds Chrono could hear coming from inside were anything to go on, it was a darn effective haunted house at that.
“You know I just remembered, I have stuff I have to go do. At home. That’s not here,” said Chrono, slowly backing away from the building before the three of them. “You two have fun without me.”
“Oh no.” Tokoha grabbed him by the collar. “This is a team challenge mister, you’re not going anywhere but inside with us.”
"Aww Tokoha.” Chrono whined as she dragged him towards the door, Shion hiding a smug look behind his hand. “I’m sure you can do this without me.”
“Not if we want team points we can’t,” said Shion. “Remember, we all have to complete this. That includes you.”
Chrono withered under his gaze and sighed as he shrugged free of Tokoha’s grip. “Fine, let’s just get this over with.”
The Dark Zone branch’s main building, which frankly had the appearance of a haunted building already, had been done up like haunted house right out of a movie. The large doors creaked dramatically every time someone entered and hidden fog machines covered the floor in a layer of fog.
The whole thing sounded simple enough, the entire team had to make it through the haunted house, from start to finish, without a single member leaving. But it sure wasn’t sounding easy given the screams that could be heard and how often people came charging out the doors and into the sunlight.
“This place is so much creepier than the last time we were here,” said Tokoha.
“I didn’t even think that was possible,” said Shion as a scream echoed from somewhere within the branch.
“Let’s just get this over with, please?” begged Chrono.
Tokoha rolled her eyes, “Oh don’t be such a big baby Chrono. It’s just people in costumes trying to jump out and scare you and scary noises. It’s not that scary.”
“Speak for yourself.”
With a sigh, she and Shion grabbed Chrono by the arms, trapping him between them before heading off into the haunted house.
Chrono was beginning to think that maybe they were right, there was nothing to be afraid of, they were just harmless jump-scares. Until they rounded the corner of a hall and found themselves face to face with a tall, four-armed figure. Eyes decorated their coat, blinking as they looked around while four, vivid green eyes stared back from their masked face.
“I have to say that’s an impressive Gastille costume,” remarked Shion as the actor walked towards them, unfolding both sets of arms.
“Shion...”
“They even got all the arms to move as well.”
“Shion!”
“What?”
The eyes on the hem and collar all turned to focus on them as he opened his mouth in a wide grin, revealing sharp fangs. Clawed feet scraped at the ground and Chrono took a step back.
“I don’t think that’s a costume!” As the Gastille before them lunged at them, Chrono bolted down the hallways, grabbing Tokoha and Shion’s hands and dragging them with him. Somewhere behind them he could hear the beating of leathery wings and the metallic clanking and jangling of chains.
“I swear if I die in here I’m haunting the both of you!” cried Chrono as they ran down the hall.
They eventually came to a stop, and a quick glance behind them told them that their pursuer had gone off somewhere else.
“You said it was just costumes,” hissed Chrono. “That was not a costume. That was-that was-it looked real!”
“Chrono please, you know it can’t be real. Units can’t come to earth like that.”
“Then what do you think it was Tokoha?”
She bit her lip. “I don’t know. But it wasn’t real. Maybe a hologram of some kind.”
“I’ve never seen a hologram that realistic before though,” said Shion thoughtfully. “You couldn’t even see through it.”
After catching their breath, the trio continued onward, Chrono clinging tightly to his friends as they walked. Their hologram suspicions were put to the test when they entered a room and were set upon by cackling wild-eyed cats, and black and whites that were literally split down the middle, half black and half white, and other assorted beasts.
“See they’re just holograms, nothing to worry...about...” Tokoha trailed off as she put her hand on one of the Cheshire Cats, and actually touched it. It meowed in response and looked up at her.
This time it was Chrono who found himself being dragged as Tokoha bolted from the room with a shriek.
“So do you believe me now?” asked Chrono as they ran, feeling vindicated in his earlier fears.
“Just shut up and run!”
Despite this, his teammates refused to leave the haunted house. By god they were going to complete it, even if their may have been actual monsters running around it.
It was later discovered that the event had been partly to show off the Vanguard Association’s newest holographic system, a system that produced holograms with mass and physical form, allowing them to be very lifelike.
