Trysexual/Tryromantic Pride Flag
Try-: often described as someone willing to “try anything once”; essentially they are open to experimenting
(Definition taken from the book “ABCs of LGBT” by Ash Hardell)

[[ I don’t believe I ever posted this, even though it pertains to a subject that I care quite a deal about, that of representation in literature, for it’s still swimming around in my unfinalized miscellaneous folder. It’s a screen capture from an AMA that Bob did on Reddit on August 27, 2015 as part of a series of events preceding the release of Archmage.
The contents within this image are pretty frustrating because, and I don’t claim to be an expert on sexuality by a long shot, but I’m pretty sure that “trysexual” isn’t an actual sexuality and more of a lifestyle choice. At least, in the way that Bob is using the word “trysexual” here, it certainly relates to a choice to be a certain way, which sexuality is not.
Despite the lighthearted tone of the question, it touches on a more serious subject, as a contingent of non-”mainstream” followers of the Drizzt books have looked to Jarlaxle for over two decades as an embodiment of and representative example of their lives. In an otherwise very straight series (with the exception of female characters which are seen more often than not in fetishization contexts), Jarlaxle was the exception. Yet Bob was as noncommittal as always, and we may have very well seen the conclusion of the dark elf books come and go without Jarlaxle ever having “on screen” interactions of the romantic and/or sexual sort with anyone or anything non-female. Heck, in a world that’s supposed to be equally accepting of all sexualities, it’s more plausible for someone as open-minded as Jarlaxle to bed a dragon before he’d bed another male humanoid. Bob may state that he isn’t at liberty to assert things one way or another about characters that are fundamentally owned by WotC, but it’s a sorry excuse, for such certainly did not stop other realms authors, notably Erin M. Evans and Erik Scott de Bie, from being fully LGBTQIA-inclusive in their Forgotten Realms works.
But I’ve already said all of this before and I’m probably just beating a dead horse again. ._. I’ve always wished that Bob would change, but he never did, and now, it’s most likely too late. ]]
