Okay, something else I just noticed. Before we meet Remus, Logan is trying to get the others to talk about the situation at had, namely addressing the thoughts, Patton tells him
His posture is tense and the way he says this is as if he were trying to drop a hint. Which is interesting because Logan replies with
Here's the thing about this bit here, Logan is gesturing to where Roman is standing clueless about what's going on, but I don't think Roman is the "he" who Logan is referring to, I think at this point right here Logan already knew that Remus was hiding behind the TV and was, in fact, trying to tell the others of his presence. Because once Remus pops up
Logan is the only one not surprised by it. If anything he looks resigned, wishing the others had listened to him.
If we take a step back and take a look at Virgil’s reaction to the situation
And put that together with Patton's hint dropping it builds the picture that Virgil and Patton are both convinced that so much as talking about the intrusive thoughts will be enough to summon Remus, thus they both shut Logan down repeatedly.
If we go with the idea of Logan already knowing that Remus was present, it would explain his response to Virgil as well
If he's already aware of Remus, or at the very least isn't convinced that speaking about intrusive thoughts is enough to summon Remus it would explain why he's confused by Virgil's response. Logan isn't "pushing" anything, he's just trying to tell them Remus is already there.
