I do not like Modern AUs. Like I love these characters partially because of the context they exist in. I like the mundane when it is offset by the fact they also fight crime. I have no interest in them living a normal life. I find it boring.

Okay, I'll start relatively benign.

I don't like Nightshade's post alt-mode design. The owl is weird looking, and they look kind of ugly now. Their pre alt-mode form was gorgeous and wonderful. I miss it dearly.

From a toy selling perspective, I know why all the Terrans will be getting altmodes. But it would have been wonderful to have Hashtag who finds an alt-mode that suits her right away, Jawbreaker who is taking his time, and Nightshade who doesn't take one at all.

Like I get the whole "your alt-mode is a form of self expression" thing. But Nightshade didn't go "I'll think about it" and scan an altmode because they wanted to. Not really. Their parents were in danger and they scanned an altmode so they could fight. Nightshade was comfortable with their own body and should have had the freedom not to conform with what makes a Transformer a Transformer.

(And then we could have had them meet some monoformers, those who were that way by choice and those who weren't.)
