Heya! Has anyone ever encountered this problem? Bodyshop worked fine for me, I haven't really changed anything in my game or added new cc, but now it continuously blocks and crashes on startup!
I tried deleting the cache files, launching it from the program files folder... but the problem persists! Has anyone had the same issue?
I've been seeing this issue in many people's ts2 screenshots lately.
If you have an Nvidia GPU and your sims have weird lines on their faces, especially noticeable at the edge of lips, you can fix it quite easily (only if it bothers you, of course) with the Nvidia Inspector.
Just open the settings and turn Antialiasing fix on for your game. This should fix it. At least it worked for me in all 2/3/4 sims games.
This is a well-known fix in ts3&4 communities, but I haven't seen it brought up that much in the context of ts2.
(here, some kind person wrote a better tutorial for ts4, with images)
Thanks for the replies and messages about Linux/Ubuntu and TS2, all. From what I've heard and read, I think I'll go ahead and set up that second system as Linux and go from there. Kinda tired of Windows' shit, and I feel like this would be a good way to future-proof the game so that I don't have to think about the next version of Windows and what surprises that may bring.
In the process of coming to this conclusion, I talked a lot with a professional system builder in my area who was kind enough to troubleshoot issues I was having with my build with me via email; he's the one who suggested an alternate OS to begin with. But he also made another suggestion, that I download and install The Visual C Runtimes All-In-One for my Windows 10 machine. I kinda rolled my eyes and "sure, whatever"-ed at him cause I feel like I've tried every "fix" up till this point and I still haven't been able to open Dallùbach on this new build since day one, but I didn't think I'd seen this suggested before so, wth, I tried it.
Ran the install, transferred my saved games over to my new Sims folders, and hit go. Clicked on Dall expecting to either crash or be hit with a bright pink flashing shitshow. But imagine my surprise, y'all...
I haven't seen this in a VERY long time. And since last night I've been going in and out of lots, switching between 'hoods, all things that would normally bring on the pink with a quickness, but it has been completely stable and I don't know what to think. Was it the Origin install? Was it the Visual C package? Is it all too good to be true and it's just waiting till I'm complacent so it can explode on me?
The one thing that will NOT be going back into my game is Reshade. My game was performing flawlessly after this new whatever-I-did, and it wasn't until I introduced Reshade that my game began crashing at load and showing signs of pink. My computer is an actual beast so I know it's not a hardware issue. To be honest, the only settings I messed with in Reshade were DoF, Bloom and AO anyway, and I can get all of that AND UI detection from Pine's mod. so I'm gonna stick with that and enjoy my (seemingly) stable game.
Fingers crossed, I'm gonna actually try PLAYING MY GAME for the first time in, what? A year? It will serve as both a stress test to see if this performance sticks and also TO HAVE FUNNNNNNNN!!!
So, I’m currently editing my new hood (Wimborne, which I’m creating a YouTube series on if anyone is interested!) and I’ve noticed with Criquette’s Linden trees that they create a weird shadow-y box beneath them. Does anyone know if this is an issue with the cc or my graphics? I have a high end gaming laptop and nothing else causes these weird boxes besides those trees and seasoned mountain pines by lowedeus, I believe.
I had three very annoying hair glitches today, and I want to document what the problems were so hopefully others can avoid them. It may be caused by broken custom content.
Glitch 1: A base game hair was showing a null scalp.
This issue was caused by having a mesh by me where I did not Fix Integrity correctly. Therefore, I’d accidentally made a default replacement. And then the mesh that I made had issues, so it didn’t show up. So, remove the problematic mesh, and the error goes away.
Glitch 2: Strange Hair on Bald Scalp
This issue affected many ages groups, though not children or toddlers. There was a light hair texture covering the scalp.
It sat under existing hair textures.
This was caused by DreadPireate’s Honeygold Redux default skin for werewolves. I’m not sure why, maybe the scalp texture was accidentally applied to a non-lycan scalp. But when I removed that default, the problem was resolved.
Glitch 3: Glitched hair texture on scalp.
This issue was the hardest to identify. Strands of hair and some dark technical-looking patches covering the scalp. It sat under existing hair textures.
This one was caused by JacobAOConnor’s Therapist Hair in All Colours. Presumably it would also happen to the original unlock it was based on, by HugeLunatic.
Perhaps that’s why the hair is no longer directly accessible on ModTheSims and I had to use an archive link to download it? Same for HugeLunatic’s unlocker.
So if you’re unlucky enough to have this issue, look for very old unlocked CAS content and remove it!
Good luck with your troubleshooting, fellow Simmers!
[FIXED!!!! - Thank you so much lovely xwhitepolar!]Very N00b GIMP/PS question
Hi guys how are you?
I promised myself I’ll be dedicating the week-end to TS2 - especially CC, since lately I’ve been too busy to do anything XD I also wanted to keep posting pictures of my gameplay, but I made an horrible realization: I used Eversims' Holy Colors Batman twice on some pics, which made them brighter than the sun :/ I don’t have the original (for some reason, I usually batch edit them in separate folders) and I don’t want to lose them either!
Is there any chance someone could possibly suggest a way to make this pictures decent again? Just few examples to show how they look and how they should have looked:
While this is the result I’d like (or even a plan picture, as long as it doesn’t blind people):
OK, another question for you all. for Freeware versions i see there are a few options for TS2, so I want to know which one people are the happiest with/had success with installing on the first go. I know there are other versions around but I want to ask specifically about Mr DJ/oldgamesdownload vs Games4TheWorld.
Mr DJ seems the most straightforward but i am wondering why it is missing IKEA stuff if it’s supposed to be an Ultimate Collection. also, i feel like quite a lot of CC is based off of IKEA base objects so i am iffy about that one. G4TW, on the other hand seems to have a lot going for it but when i tried to install it the first time (i read both the install document and watched the video) i couldn’t get it to install at all. maybe because i don’t install games to my C drive? but i’d like to see if anyone else has tried and succeeded.
thanks, all, for the comments and tips and for helping me through this. i’m gonna dedicate this weekend to getting this bad boy up and running again.
