i just spent two. damn. days. troubleshooting this weird shiny floor error i was having in my wholesome wlw couple's ranch in Chestnut Ridge. was it the world? was it this particular lot? was it a cubemap glitch of some sort? was it the absence of a lighting mod i'd just uninstalled? was it cc textures going fuckety after the update? was it a glitchy mod, despite my best efforts at fastidious mod hygiene after every update?
(i ended up uninstalling and reinstalling my entire game and all of my apparently 51(??! holy everloving fuck) dlcs over this, which i haven't had to do in idk how many years. i got so antsy waiting for it all to reinstall that i decided I'm going to try to teach myself python bc it'd be cool to learn how to mod??? more than likely delusional. anyway)
n o p e. it was that my dumb ass (affectionate?) forgot to fix the damn ROOF after I expanded a tiiiiny part of their house to make the floor plan make more sense, and this tiny part was now technically exposing the entire kitchen/hallway/living/laundry room to the elements.
so the game thought this hardwood floor was outside in the sun. and therefore it clearly needed to shine like the top of the chrysler building.
i should absolutely be disgusted with the amount of troubleshooting i've had to do on sims games so far in my life, or whatever. (also with myself for missing such an infuriatingly obvious thing)
alas. something something the price we pay, and honestly i'm just stoked to get to play with my sweet bb blorbos again
