Saw this in @kierancfthehunt and wanted to do it, I hope that’s okay :)
1. Favorite Shadowhunter?
As a warrior? Maybe Jace or Emma, Izzy too. As a character then no, I cannot answer that (*/ω\)
2. Kitty? Yes or No? (if no, i’m having WoRdSS with you)
YES YES YES Man, I need them to be canon NOW!
3. OTP in tsc?
Well, my ultimate OTP in tsc has always and will always be Malec, but I love Jessa, Kitty, Sizzy and Jemma with all my heart and soul too (and thanks to @catarinalosss I’m all about Matthew and James now)
4. Song that reminds you of your favorite tsc book?
Oh man I used to have a list but I don’t quite remember now, um. Friends by Ed Sheeran has always reminded me of Malec in the first three books, A thousand Years too. Angel with a Shootgun is my Clace song. Shatter Me by Lindsey Stirling for The Infernal Devices (listen to it, it’s gorgeous) and basically everything written by Beth Crowley
5. Lightwoods. Smooth or aWk?
Awkward
6. One word to describe Zara Bitchborn.
RUDE!!!
7. What would your reaction be if you met CC?
I would be a crying mess, her books mean so much to me, I wouldn’t be who I am today without them.
8. Would you want to be part of the shadow world? Explain.
I would probably die within a couple days, but I would totally like to be a warlock. Or maybe a pixie fairy, super hidden in the Court so nothing would hurt me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
9. How did you get into tsc?
I used to be obsessed with greek mithology so going through some pages in facebook I came up with one about books (I still follow them :3) and there were a lot of pics mentioning the books, and people crying over them so I looked for CoB and being honest it took me like a month to read it bc I wasn’t used to read anything that didn’t have Zeus screwing everyone’s life in it but once I eneded I was like “WTF did just happen? What kind of end is that? It can’t be true” and then read the next four books in less than two weeks
10. Clary or Emma or Tessa?
Each of them has a very special place in my heart but I feel like I will always choose Clary cuz she’s the one who made me love the books, I have loved her since the begining (I don’t know why peole think she’s annoyin, she was never that for me) So yeah, Clary.
I’m tagging @shadowhunterworld @tavvy-and-rafe-are-parabatai @oliviagraystairs @tessacarstairs @bookloveranimewatcher (I know you still haven’t read LoS but still) @the-north-star and whoever want to do it!
Thank you to the lovely @bookscaptivefangirl for tagging me <3 . I hope you have a beautiful day/night!
1.Favorite Shadowhunter?
Hmmm,I really don’t know,I like all of them but I don’t have a favorite. I would say..Will and Jem. I really liked them, together and apart from each other.
2.Kitty? Yes or no?
OMGGG YESSSSSSS YESSSS YESSS. I LOVE THEM!
3.OTP in tsc?
I’m okay with the pairings we already have, but my favorites are Kitty and Malec.
4.Songs that reminds you of your favorite tsc book?
Actually,I don’t have songs that I associate with the books, but I remembered that I really associate the song Fight song by Rachel Platten with the TID trilogy because I saw a few months ago some art with the lyrics of the song and it really works together.
5.Lightwoods. Smooth or awkward?
Definitely awkward.
6.One word to describe Zara Bitchborn?
Insulting.
7.What your reaction would be if you met CC?
Oh,I don’t know. I think I would be super excited and happy, but I would be polite(bc I’m always polite lol) and ask maybe some questions.
8.Would you want to be part to be part of the shadow world?
Yes,but I would probably dead in a week or less. I would like to b a warlock because I could be in some action and maybe some attention but not in the centre of it.(I don’t like to be the centre of the attention,it makes me anxious)And I get to do magic, and I love magic.
9.How did you get into tsc?
Well,my sister and I watched the TMI movie(2-3 years ago),and the first time I watched it I didn’t really liked it,but then I watched it a second time and I loved it,and my sister was like “Well, the movie is after a book.” And I was like “WHAT?WHERE?I NEED IT NOWWW!’’. So,yeah,I started to read TMI and then I found out about TID and I was just dragged in this new world I didn’t knew about but I really enjoyed it.
10. Clary,Emma or Tessa?
I really love them, but Tessa is first, then Emma is second and Clary third. I don’t hate Clary,I really enjoyed her and her story, but I enjoyed much more Tessa and now Emma. And I know she isn’t in the question, but I love Dru too and I can’t wait more of her and her point of view.
I tag @catastrophicallyinlovewithbooks @notcrypticbutcoy @tiberiusblacktorn and @kittrook. Sorry if you didn’t want to be tagged,you don’t have to do this if you don’t want to,but I hope you have a lovely day/night! <3
one thing i don’t like so much about the screaming citadel is that luke just kinda...escapes...without us seeing how...and apparently getting life force or whatever that is sucked out of you doesn’t have any side effects? it just feels sorta sloppy, like him getting caught was a last-minute addition that wasn’t written into the rest of the story properly
the screaming citadel is good for a lot of reasons but one of my favorite things in it is that sana gave former imperial agent aphra the location of their current base bc she’s too gay to say no to her
While I’m falling behind on my writing endeavors due to my obligations in filming (me and my best friend are filming a short film we wrote together), I just happened to see a retweet by @jennamoreci with a tag for her latest release, The Savior’s Champion, and basically anyone who watches it gets tagged. So, why not bring it to Tumblr if it hasn’t already?!
Thanks to @leightonjaewilliams for creating the tag! And GO BUY YOUR COPY OF THE SAVIOR’S CHAMPION! It’s literally one of the best books of the year, and it’s beaten my favorite book - which just happens to be A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas. I don’t think anything else can top that except the sequels and companion novels to TSC. (Btw, this isn’t sponsored in any way, I just love the book THAT MUCH.)
I will be putting my opinions on who should be cast and how the book should be adapted, and if you don’t like my picks, you can create your own dream cast! It’s really easy! (Sort of, you never know when you can’t find the right actor)
Also, I will not be posting any spoilers of TSC in this post. What is talked about is the general information Jenna put on her blogs and Youtube vlogs (Go follow her on Youtube! She has some of the best writing advice videos out there!).
Now, after all that and endless parentheses - and there will be A LOT more - let’s begin the casting process!
To start off, a lot of people automatically assumed TSC should be adapted into a film. Problem: films have to cut A LOT out of the final cut of the film due to pacing for film and “creative merit” for the director, screenwriter, and producers. I honestly believe that when adapting a beloved book/book series, you put it in the respective film medium to reflect the true identity of the book and bring what the author had in mind to the screen. Sadly, a lot of adaptations don’t do that (Mortal Instruments, anyone?)
In terms of TSC, I think it should be either a television series or a mini-series. TSC is a big boy, and there is going to be a companion novel to it that happens in the same timeline as TSC. It creates an even bigger story plot when combined together, and it can create episodes instead of cutting huge scenes out for the sake of timing. Also, these mediums can give a lot of the other characters not seen much more screen time.
Now casting! These are a little tricky, because Jenna had beautiful portraits made for most of the characters. You can see them here.
Tobias: The leads... both Tobias and Leila were the last ones I casted. This was hard because I wanted to make sure I found the right people for the roles. For Tobias, it was really hard to find someone who’s REALLY good-looking, can be badass while also being very caring at the same time. I think Alberto Rosende of Shadowhunters could portray Tobias well. With his work on that show, he showed he can be sensitive when it’s called for, has the training in order to look like he’s been working in the fields, and he can have the comedic timing for some parts in the story. This type of role would be a slight step out of the zone he’s in right now, but he would be able to do it justice.
Leila: This may be the hardest to cast because I get a Lyanna Stark vibe off of her. The actress who played Lyanna is now considered too old to play Leila, so I needed to find someone else in the age range Leila needs to be. After constant searching, I think I found the perfect Leila - India Eisley from The Secret Life of the American Teenager. She has the right look, and to be honest the right type of voice. I always heard Leila with a soprano voice, after all most females are this type of voice. I think she would be able to portray Leila perfectly.
Orion: I feel like it’s unanimous over the board that everyone wants our badass Khal Drogo/ Aquaman Jason Momoa to play Orion. When I saw the portrait I automatically thought of him.
Kaleo: This one also took me a long time, but my jaw dropped when I found Will Tudor’s name through searches. How did I not think of him when I first saw the portrait?! He has the bone structure AND the acting ability to portray such a character. Even though Shadowhunters could be a better show than it is, the one thing they got right was Will Tudor as Sebastian. Superb actor! (Can you tell he’s one of my many actor crushes?)
Flynn: This one should go to Ross Butler (known for portraying Reggie in the first season of Riverdale and Zach Dempsy in Thirteen Reasons Why). Considering the characters he portrayed in both shows, this role would fit him quite nicely.
Milo: Right when I thought I couldn’t find anyone to portray Milo, Robert Sheehan popped into my head. He has played roles slightly similar to Milo before, and he would portray Milo well.
Delphi: The actress that I’ve found the closest to Delphi is Kylie Bunbury, who played a lead in Freeform’s show Twisted. I feel like this character should be portrayed by someone slightly older to have the confidence that Delphi has.
Zander: I originally had someone else cast as Zander until I started looking through the Merlin cast page and remembered Alexander Vlahos. I instantly realized he’s perfect for it. He looks very similar to the portrait and he has the “sweetheart quality” that I think Zander has.
Beau: This is a character where it’s WAY too hard to find someone. I don’t know if an overly gorgeous guy is in high demand in the film industry. Like Jenna said in her character intro video, this guy is someone who would be on the cover of a Harlequin romance novel. I feel like this would end up going to a model who’s pursuing acting. If you actually know of an actor who could portray this character, sound off in comments and reblogs!
Cosima: Madelaine Petsch, famously known as Cheryl Blossom on Riverdale, should play her. She has the look AND the acting chops to portray the beloved Savior.
Raphael: Hmm... you know, if you look at the portrait, he looks like Alfred Enoch from Harry Potter and How to Get Away with Murder. LOL! I love that some of the characters were based on actual characters (I do that A LOT with my characters). So, our beloved Dean Thomas/ Wes Gibbins gets dibs on this character.
Garrick: Big guy with red hair? Yeah, our beloved Tormund, Kristofer Hivju is a perfect fit for Garrick!
Pippa: This one goes to Natalia Dyer of Stranger Things! She has the ingenue look that Pippa has, and I think a character like Pippa would be something that can reveal her acting range as well.
Brontes: I knew with Brontes that someone on Game of Thrones could portray him, but I wasn’t sure which actor. I figuratively smacked my head when I realized the actor I was thinking of was Pedro Pascal. He has the look and acting ability to portray the Sovereign well.
Enzo: This one is kind of more surprising than others. I expect Enzo to be more like this buff dude with a slight Russian accent, but I discovered that Alexander Ludwig of Vikings and The Hunger Games could portray him. He has the right look when he doesn’t have the crazy hairdos Vikings calls for, and he has done accent work on Vikings, which could translate to the work on a Kovharian accent needed for the role.
Altair: Of course, Corbin Bleu gets dibs on this character! Please look at the portrait for reference.
Antaeus: The closest fit to this character would have to be Dwayne Johnson. I didn’t think of him at first because he’s a Hufflepuff and a lot of the roles he’s been acting lately have been towards the kinder, more relateable guy. Then again, he can portray a lot of different characters, was a WWE wrestler before he pursued acting, so he can kill this one.
Caesar: I don’t know why, but that portrait looks like a buff and blonde version of Zachary Quinto. I’m very sure he could pull it off with the various characters he’s acted (seasons 1 and 2 of AHS, anyone?).
Neil: This one should go to Charles Melton from Riverdale (he replaced Ross Butler for season 2 when his schedules conflicted with Thirteen Reasons Why). Just put intense sapphire blue contacts in, and he’s set!
Drake: This was one where I was having the hardest time trying to find someone, until I looked up bodybuilder actors. Thankfully, I found a still of Dave Bautista without the prosthetics and makeup as Drax from Guardians of the Galaxy. I haven’t seen him give as cold of a look as Drake does in the portrait, but I’m very sure he can give it. He can also break you in half if he wanted to, but Dave is actually a lot nicer compared to Drake. (Always have kind actors play the bad guys!)
And that’s the end of my cast list! As you can tell, I found actors in select television shows more than films. I did this because the current market for Hollywood films is huge franchises with iconic characters that the actors are KNOWN for. Casting them would take the viewer out most of the time because they’ll be thinking, “Hey, it’s huge superhero from so-and-so universe!” Also, if this was going to be really turning into a tv show/mini-series/movie franchise, a lot of the actors would not be able to play the roles due to contracts and scheduling conflicts. Personally, I feel like I don’t watch enough television, but then again there aren’t a lot of shows with actors in the age ranges needed for TSC. But I digress...
So what do you think? Did I nail any of these characters for you? Was I completely off? If so, who would you want to play the role in question? Sound off in the comments and reblogs down below! Thanks again to @jennamoreci for writing an amazing book and thanks to @leightonjaewilliams for creating the tag!
If you have read TSC and like doing tags, YOU HAVE BEEN TAGGED! You can create your own cast for TSC and there’s a good chance it’ll be better than mine!
You open the world binder for my novel . You see the character bibles filled with detailed descriptions and lists of character wants vs needs.. You pick up leths. The only thing there is a poorly drawn version of the ponyo meme that just says
It's general practice to give children temporary names + pronouns until they can figure out their own shit later on when they're grown. Some may choose to keep the name they were given; some may know early on what they want to be called; some may change names and pronouns and presentation frequently. ['Ive mentioned this before, but the concept of ~being trans~ as we understand it doesnt really exist as it is extremely rare that anyone is forcibly gendered at birth, though it's not exactly a gender utopia.]
In the country where the book is taking place, it's common practice among elves (because of the predominant religion) to have large celebrations on their 75th [18th to a human] birthday in which the chosen name etc are formally announced and celebrated amongst family and friends. The celebration of that itself isn't necessarily specific to elves, but in this religion, the elven god blessed elves with long lives so that they could have more freedom and flexibility to explore and discover. While firm choices early on are respected, it's common for elven children to be encouraged to express themselves freely and try new things. The solidification of identity is sacred for some and for others an excuse to have what is essentially a big fancy birthday party.
This isn't to say that from that point on, no change is allowed. Some elves hold Name Day celebrations every 75 years where they decide to change it up for a while. Some do so even if they don't change anything at all. The custom is merely meant to be an affirmation that the person in question has done their sacred duty and performed a great deal of self exploration and discovery. Some have it earlier than 75 years, and some have it later, and some (rare for those who believe in the religious aspect) never have one at all, believing it's truer to the spirit of the edicts of their god or that it simply isn't necessary at all.
While there are trans/nonbinary people of all species, were one to take a census of the main country, statistically speaking elves would have the highest per capita amount of what we would consider agender, nonbinary, and genderfluid individuals.
