The tshirtOS a Washable Digital T-Shirt

  Do you like to wear graphic text t-shirts? What if you only need to buy one and you can change the graphics yourself?

The tshirtOs is a really cool t-shirt from the companies Ballantine’s & CuteCircuit with an idea of “self expression”. It is a fully washable digital t-shirt that can progammed by an iOS app to be customized with whatever you want. How cool is that?

-       One thing wrong with all of them: they are not pretty

-       They are designed by techies and only techies and sports use it.

-       Biggest annoyance:

They have arbritary measurements – what’s nike fuel? How do they actually know what calories I’m burning?

What’s a day? Trackers all are based on 24h cycles

The measurements, the data is wrong most of the times

You have to manually put all trackers into “sleep mode” and when you are really tired or drunk … you are going to forget it.

It should be automatic (it’s not difficult)

  -        Bracelets

Phyode – only tracks when you press the button, really ugly, app outsourced and annoyting. It should do it automatically.

Pebble smartwatch (kickstarter) – it’s ugly, raised 10m on Kickstarter, completely understimated production issues/costs. Raised 70m from VC, kickstrater validated demand. Low general sales.

If you have success on kickstarter it doesn’t mean you are going to have success in the mass market

Angel sensor – at least it’s simple, open source SDK. Design is ok, simple, open SDK. But it’s not so good when it’s on the mass market.

Devices will get prettier and smarter and they will do more stuff

Cons

As more devices do more diagnostic things, agencies like the FDA will regulate.

This is engaging and expressive technology that could potentially impact the face of advertising!

tshirtOS is the world's first wearable, shareable and programmable tee shirt.

A 32 by 32 RGB pixel grid is embedded into the fabric of the tee shirt to make a full colour display.

Utilising your smartphone and the internet, tshirtOS is capable of displaying photos, such as from Instagram, status updates from Twitter or Facebook, text messages, and even play music!

While it is currently expensive to produce, it is hoped that over time, as the costs decrease and demand increases, the shirts will become more affordable.
