musings!owls and owl meat
//Y’know, it just occurred to me that in the Madagascar troll provinces, eating owls - especially tyto owls- is considered blasphemous, sacrilegious, evil, and abominable because of how previlant the Tsingis Tribe culture and influence is in Madagascar. Because owls are so revered among the Tsingis, both Hearstone Hollow and the Heartston Bazaar bar the buying, selling, trading, or eating of owls or their parts, with the exception of their feathers. This is because not doing so would be seen as an affront to the largest troll tribe in Madagascar, the Tsingis Tribe, and the loss of their friendship would cost all tribes very dearly. Thus owls were taken off the menu and young welps reminded that those who eat owls are in danger of becoming kin with the wicked Owl-Eaters in the tales of the Man-Turned-Owl and the Fallen God, and foes of the island patron, the Great Mask Maker.
