October!!!🍁🍂🌼🌲 Tsivlou lake, Greece by @nikoskarakhontzitis via Instagram.
tsivlou lake Greece
This is my Greece | Lake Tsivlou, is one of the recently formed lakes in Europe, located in the prefecture of Achaia, surrounded by the slopes of Mount Helmos in North Peloponnese
Going for a walk around lake Tsivlou
This is how you could spend your next Saturday or Sunday morning: drive or ride to the region of Peloponnese heading towards lake Tsivlou . It was formed around 1912-13, when a shift blocked the flow of the river Krathi. As a result, the settlement of Tsivlo was lost in the waters of the newborn lake which otherwise is a small and beautiful one that lies at an altitude of 700 meters surrounded by rich flora.
The natives had initially named the lake Mavrolimni (i.e. Black lake). Its depth is only 30 meters and on the bottom lie the remains of the old settlement. You will find signs leading to the lake on your way from Akrata to Zarouhla. In this beautiful hamlet you can find plenty of restaurants, cafes and traditional hostels.
If you wish to grab a bit while around the lake, you can try Paradisos (tel. 0030 6974 630908) and Petrino (tel. 0030 26960 34190 – www.limnitsivlou.gr). In Zarouhla we suggest Ydata Stygos (0030 26960 35050) and Mahairas (0030 26960 33928).
